***WHO PAID FOR THEIR CAR***

i paid for my car (proud of it) which was 5k for a 1.2rn clio wen i was 17. together with insurance being £1000 a yr

id like to kno, mainly to the younger people with more powerful cars, who actually handed over the cash for it? cos i read that lots of people have 172s for example r young. also who pays for ur insurance?

cheers

Jay

would like to know where u got 6k from @ 17. i was as skint as a flint at that age. Ive paid for all my cars and insurance myself - with the help of a bank lone which i finish in December.

first car £1400 fiesta xr2 mk2 £640 paid for my self

second car primera si p11 £6500 first year £900+ dow to 340 in last year

clio 172 mk2 £10500 £960 something insurance all paid for by me never had anyone help me with my cars except some damage was paid for as a pressie on the primera

I pay for my own car, but didnt buy it outright (bank loan). I also pay for my insurance. Who else would pay it?! Can you give me their name?

(repeated for the correctly spelled thread ;))

im 23 now fiesta i got when 18 had for 10 months then primera for 3 years then got clio in march this year on my 23rd birthday only have 3 years ncb tho as a company wouldnt give me my year grrr

got a 172, had an escort gti before that, r5 gtt before that, fiesta xr2 as my first car and im 21, all paid for by myself, well the escort and the 172 paid for by finance always had my own insurance adrian flux/direct line or the back of fast car mag (if you want cheap but sh*t cover) are the boys to go for, glad i had my own insurance from the word go coz its cheap now (well for my age anyway) £970 fully comp in my name on the 172.

also how many go uni cos it sounds on here that a lot of people go straight to jobs as well cos u have nice cars at 21-25.

i start uni in 10days and cos of lack of funds from a full time job i will b stuck wid my 1.2 until im 24, which really sucks

Jay

bet the 172 felt nice to drive after owning a primera for 3 yrs ;).

My Valver is my 2nd car - and i intend in keeping it for many yrs to come.

the primera isnt a bad car amazing seats they really were dog slow but didnt handle too badly

yeah streat into a job started on like 12k now on quite a bit more

Funnily enough this is the 1st car I havent paid for...

1st car 1100 Fiesta - £900 - Paid by me!

2nd car 1400s Fiesta £1400 - paid by me!

3rd car 1100 Peugeot 205 £700 - paid by me!

4th car 1360 Peugeot 205 XS £750 - paid by me!

5th car 205 GTi - £1800 - paid by me!

6th car (didnt reqalise I was now on no.6! Blimey!) Sh*tter - not paid by me!

Almost forgot insurance - 1st car was on mums insurance - and that was f**king 900 TPFT!!!

All the rest have been me - now down to 500ish TPFT

Ive stumped up myself for every car Ive owned (although never more than 2 grand) except the Mini which my Mum bought for me (bless you Mum - love you loads:D)

1st Car - 17 - Fiesta Ghia - paid by rents

2nd Car - 18 - Fiesta XR2 - paid myself

3rd Car - 18 - Clio 1.9 RN - Paid myself

4th Car - 21 - Willy 3 - Paid myslef

All insurance paid by me :(, my first 3 cars I was insured as a named driver, so im only now just building up my no claims bonus. Being a student I had no choice.

hi mate,

what i mean by sh*t cover is if you get a bump theyre painfully slow in sorting things out and normally have high voluntary excess, thats about it really, if your a careful driver and short on dough then theyre fine but adrian flux are sh*t hot for over 19s, how old are you mate?

im 24 have a 172 (2002 model)bought from new, car and the insurance is paid by me (£900 fully comp with 3 yrs NCD) had a gt turbo before that bought by myself and that cost me £1700 (cringe) fully comp the 1st year i insured it

Yep....all cars paid for either by me, or partially by bank loan/finance, which still counts as me as I pay the monthly payments.

First car: Astra 1.4CDi

Second car: *ahem* Nova GSi (at the age of 17 as well.......insurance wasnt as bad as it is these days!)

Third car: AX GT

Fourth car: Saxo 1.1 pile of poo

Fifth car: Fiesta XR2i 1.8 16v (for the real essex touch ;))

Sixth car: Punto GT Turbo

Seventh car: Clio 172

Next car.......something with a turbo again, or failing that, a whopping big engine. Quite fancy either a Mitsi Evo 8, BMW M3 (E36) or an Alfa 147 GTA

mate i do double thge amount of miles since i started uni!! its all bout those early mornin lectures that are so easy to drive to and so hard to walk to!!

they mainly deal in high performance/hot hatches really so im sure mods wont make that much difference unless theyre big engine mods.

seeing as you have a 1.2 and your 19 you wont have trouble, if the other two arent any good, try admiral thats who my brothers with and hes 19 its pretty cheap for him as long as youve got no points.

I had a fester Mk1 for my first car think insurance on that was £500

Next my legendary nova SR that was about £600 on mums policy tho. Kept that for about three years

then I was driving the girlfreinds 106 xsi (superb motor!) that was about £750

Then we got a fiat bravo 1.4 when we bought a house that was £1000 to insure cos I wrote the xsi off....oops

Now weve got the 172 thats £1300 (gulp)

I was given my old Clio 1.2 at the age of 20 by my parents, although Id been driving it for a couple of years by then.

At 21 I bought my Valver for £4600, having sold my 1.2 for £2600. So I made up the £2000 out of my own pocket - no average achievement when you conisder that I was still doing my Batchelors at that stage! (not that Id have got any finance as a student anyway!). It was really, really tight having to do a Masters and keep my Valver maintained/insured.

Im now in a comfortably paid job and kind of eyeing up the next move. Loan rates are so low these days and you can get your hands on £5,000 for £160pcm over 3 years very easily.

But having fought daily to keep out of debt as a student (well proud of that and running a Valver at the same time!), Im really wary of taking out a loan for a much newer and nicer car.

Just seems a bit odd to have fought against the prospect for debt for so long, only to give in as soon as I actually earn some good money!!

Am currently saving £400 a month from my wages and have no debts at all, so will have that magic £5000 within a year... as long as my Valver can get through a year with no big bills!! (yeah right!) ;)

I have a fair amount of debt! Credit cards, Loan (not for car) and other bits and bobs!!

I will be in the situation of being able to pay all these off next year! And I will and cut all those b*****d credit cards up!!!

Is a pig trying to keep valver Insured and Maintained well at uni!

I borrowed 10K from the bank to buy my car gave the bloke cash for it i was 21 when i bought it and have had it for 2 years i have no no claims and i pay well over £1000 a year for the insurance, alot of money i agree but from when i was 17/18 i really wanted a Clio 16V thought the were the nutz but never had the money to get one by the time in did the 172 was about.

Dispite the crap reliability i have never looked back :D

1st car (at 19) Escort for £3.5k and 1k insurance parents wanted me to repay the £3k which I did in 6 months (I need a car for my job + I had no savings and no chance of getting a loan) I didnt have a full licence at the time even.

2nd Car Clio (just turned 20) cost £10k. Parents gave us £400 as a birthday present and got the loan in ther name for a low interest rate although I pay for it.

Only another 4K to pay on the Clio.

Now how much is a 172
