who would you trust to

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
to fit itbs to your car?

who produces the most power.. or offers the best VFM?

more to the point who would you trust?

  Clio v6
Someone who has fitted them a lot and knows what they are doing, but if they lacked the ability to really listen to the customer I wouldn't trust anyone.

well, I know who I wouldn't trust to fit ITB's... basically it boils down to experience and customer support, i'd not trust a Jonny come lately to suddenly start fitting 5k engine installs after a few successful oil changes and filter relocations put it that way.

GDI and Angel Works are the only two companies who I think are competant enough to do the work 'properly' and know what they are doing, they are also the only 2 companies who I could deffinitely say have done all the work themselves and are solely responsible for completeing it all in house. ie from installing it mapping it...

Having said all that I'd still only take it to GDI (obviously  lol) for reasons I wont get into.

Loads of people can do these conversions or claim they can, I'd want one place that can do it all in house, so then any problems and they will have a better understanding. I mean there's no point having someone that got someone else to do the map for example, what if you then have bring it back? They wouldn't have a scooby

Mark Fish always does a good job, nice bloke too.

Mark Fish isnt into engines though is he?

Bolting some ITBs on and cutting the slam panel isnt hard. You need someone who can map the car properly to make the install work to its best.

I have experience with GDIs mapping and am not planning to use them for my ITB install.

^what he said^ its not rocket science bolting on ITB's and installing a cable, some senors and a loom, you've got to be blind to c**k that up!

mapping is the important thing, i can't map, so i don't touch it, i leave mapping to people with years and years of mapping experience

GDI do a lot of Mark Fish's engine work, he's more track prep, like suspension, cages etc etc.

Mark, Andy's the UK's only approved mapper for Omex, mine drives better than a standard 172/182.

so i couble buy the kit from jenvy.. fit it and then have it mapped at chipwizzrds. (used wayne before ... he is shithot.

any way do jenvy sell the mounting plates for the itbs?

is he really!

well he was last time Richard at Omex spoke to him

ben, if you get Wayne to map it you are probably best of using a DTA as well, no idea how much they cost compared to Omex or Motec etc etc

i was looking at the dta's. il ring wayne and see what he say's

i would like to biuld the engine myself, i have lots of time and have the beemer for work.. proberly save a k or so lol

i pressume you mean on the 172/182 engines?

no idea, I'd speak to someone that's done the conversion themselves tbh ben, they should be able to tell you all you need to know.

There are a couple of points to think about also, like aircon goes. The people that tell you that you can keep this are simply talking arse too, if you want to keep the aircon go with a single body as ITB's with aircon means shorter trumpets and webber alpha like power... not really worth it. iirc you need a 172 cup alternator, but you will also need a custom PAS line for the part that connects to it. I had a hydraulics company use the original connecting ends and copper braize (sp?) it to some hydraulic stainless hosing.

I'd also lose the slam panel rather than cut it and get a custom type strut brace made or make one yourself if your worried. Plus its always good if you put back to standard if you come to sell.

FMP - in relation to what, Mark Fish or mapping??

FMP - no idea

Fred - such as? Aircon let me guess? lol, well, if you can have it on and working with a full power ITB setup that would be great

  Lionel Richie
LOL, i give up

no need for custom pas line, and yes you can keep the aircon, with full length trumpets, you just have to be clever where you put things
