Why’s my 172 leaking oil

Evening all,

Ive noticed that over the last week my 2004 172 has been leaving some concerning oil spills on the drive. If you measure about 20cm back from the nearside front fog light, (where some plastic casing ends) its there. it only seems to be leaking after a journey when the oil is hot.

Any ideas where the leak is coming from? is it serious? anyone had the same problem? info would be gratefully received.

have a look under your engine cover see what you see.

a lot rs leak form the bolts that need resealing although not heard of one that leaks that much you find it on your drive.

Are you sure its oil and not just water from the air-con?

Apparently its the aircon, theres a crack in the system and an oily orangy substance is dripping down. they use an orange dye for the aircon solution so it shows where a crack is in the system should it be leaking. thankfully its gettin replaced under warranty - wouldnt fancy working around that engine!
