Why a 172

hi all.
well i had a clio mk2 ph1 before. just a little 1.2 8valve thing and then sold that to a guy's cousin on here (christian_rea) so anyway i've now sold my honda which i bought after the clio. it was a 1.4 civic ej9 hatchback 3 door. quite nippy.
so my dad's saying to me to buy a 172 however i want a civic coupe vti model. they are a quick car and sit at around 160-170 brake horse power and when the vtec kicks in it's just amazing. here's 2 pics.




so why should i choose a 172 over a civic vti? i'm needing help deciding. it'll prob be another mk2 ph1 about Y reg

i know clio's handle much better but anything else?

my brother has a civic vti, completely different car to a clio, they are a saloon, long, spacious etc

not as fast as a clio tho

i used to have a civic coupe vti before i got my 172, the clio is much more fun to drive, it handles a lot better and its a hell of a lot quicker. i loved my honda and it never went wrong, but i am delighted with the 172 and wouldnt go back. if you want a car that will last you for the next ten years get the civic, if you want some fun get the clio

yeh see this is what i can't decide on cause i loved the way you could throw my old clio into the corners with one hand however trying that in the civic results in death.
the civic has vtec, does the clio beat that kinda idea? like does it have a certain point where it's at it's best during a gear?

yeah mate its very similar, if anything the clio's kick is more aggresive!! personally id say go for a clio, it will put a smile on your face everytime you drive it, the honda will do the same but only when your really pushing it!

funny you say that as it's what i thought, but that vtec kick's just awesome really!! lol

the thing that's puting me off tho is the number of clio sports you see. they are not rare atall imo. a civic vti would be much more rare and they're bloody hard to find a mint one for sale btw lol

definately the clio mate, soooooooooo much fun and definately quiker than the civic (especialy a ph1)

vtec is the biggest let down ever!

Every car has a power zone, just some on some cars is more pronounced.

Its not good to have a sudden power surge, you want your power to come on smooth and controlled.

Waiting for someone to say VVTI is the same as VTEC..........
