Why Black tape stuff over foglights ? ? ?

Does anyone have any ideas why this 172 has what looks like black electrical tape over foglights ? :S

So if they smash and shatter he doesnt:
1. Run over it and ruin his tyres.
2. Leave glass all over the road.

Its also recomended to do it when you track a car so it may be from that.

dont see the point.. Youd have to smash the hell out of your front bumper before you beak the foglights and even when you do that your un taped headlight would be smashed. I guess its only good for the occasion where a squirrel aims head on into the fog glass missing everything else around it. lol

Sounds like hes either been on track and not bothered with the tape on the fogs and just removed the headlights or he thinks it looks cool.

I cracked a foglight, dont know how or when but it cost over £60 to fix! Tape seems a good idea to me!

Why? It wont protect it, just holds it together, hence why you have to use it on track

Extra layer might avoid a nasty stone crack! In this case I think he prob thinks it looks cool cuz he has a black car!
