Why No White Mk2s?

Just thinking about this little gripe of mine even more.

Why was it never offered as an option on the mk2 Renaultsports, when they even used to make the Cup racers in white?

I could understand it if the plant wasn't geared up to do any white cars, but since they're already making them, why not offer the colour on the roadgoing versions?

Only mk2s I've seen in white are vans, or the beast of a courtesy car I'm in today.

thing is although most car enthusiasts like ourselfs would like a white car, the general public would see it as boring and dull.

They just wouldn't sell in decent numbers.

I know Renault also have a problem with certain colours being used on Renault Sport cars as the bumpers are supplied ready painted. Maybe white is one of those colours.

I'd have loved the Trophy in white, but your average punter would have prefered a nice metallic. lol Blue for example. Renault love blue.

Yeah but VW are selling a fair few of the old GTI Golfs in white, and I've seena fair few white 1=series bimmers. If they actually use thecolour already I can't understadn why they don't offer it as an option.

Weren't Renaultsport models assembled at a different factory (or was that just V6s?). It's probably just a economics thing. If you only reduce the number of colours, or any other variable/option for that matter, then you reduce costs. I suppose it also means that if someone orders a car and then bails out after it's been assembled then it's easier to sell on than if it's an unusual undesireable colour....

Apparently it's not an option. Big gayers have lost a sale from me there.

I could absolutely understand the decision if the Dieppe factory didn't already churn out white Renaultsport models.

Would be intriguing to know from JT why this is, and what colours are available on the continent.

If only the new car would come in white that would be superb. Not much chance though the dci is more likly.
There are a few white Rs out there on the road most arte fakes though.

With Ford and VW now offreing white agin, maybe Reanult will follow suit.

Maybe its french thing, at a visit to the Peugeot plant they said they dont do (white apart from vans lol) on the 206 GTI as the UK market doesnt want it.

I think they go for white cars on the continent more because of the climate. Go to Spain and bloody loads of them, which is probably why a lot of old shape Ibiza's are white.

Maybe you can order one abroad but RHD?

Mmmmmmmmm, that yellow one would be the one for me How come all the photos look like the bottom of the rear window starts too high? It doesn't seem to match the line of the front door window :S
