emmm move insurance companies and dont tell the u were involved in a crash, if you never made a claim then there is no way for them to find out:dapprove:

On record with who?

The data protection act means that insurance companies can only share information within the the same parent company. If you switch to a completly different company underwritten by a different parent group they wont have any records.

Anyway I've had 2 crashes where I didn't claim when I purchased insurance 2 month ago I was asked:

"Any convictions in the last five years?"

To which I asnwered no coz I havn't had any

"Any claims in the last five years?"

To which I answered no as well!

Yep fraid so. Same thing happened. Got hit from behind by some old fart not paying attention about a year ago and the car was written off.
You have to specifiy it on getting a quote. If you dont and they find out you're as good as uninsured.
Even if you 'win' the claim it's still a Lose Lose situation mate.

hmm in blatant breach of the data protection act then!

Hope it never happens to me I'll sue!

Also if that the case how come you have to ask about convictions and DVLA dont just "share" that information with you?;)

No breach, when you agree to insurance part of the agreement states that you're information may be shared with other companies ;)
In regards to the increased premium, I would argue with the insurer, play some companies off against each other or even better, go to a small brokers.

If you didn't claim, then there isn't a problem, but Patrick_g46 has had it go through insurance companies.

If you can settle without involving insurance companies, then there is no need to tell them, but because his has gone through insurance companies, it will be on file.

Sucks though mate, hope you get it sorted. Just do plenty of shopping round.

Try HIC, were by far the best price for me when I had points and a claim.

When I was hit at 40mph up the arse on the M1 a few year back both cars were written off and old bill called etc....4.5 years on and it still reads as a note on my policy. Whether or not it is costing me more money I don't know but the fact it needs to be there is a complete nonsense. I wasn't me who was in the wrong CLEARLY.

LOL what a load of pish jbennet !

when u take out a policy u agree to your info being shared on the insurance database.
also any time u fone the insurance company its logged and if u tell them of an incident it must be logged as a claim whether they pay out or not.
and its very easy to get that info.

and with regards to disclosing convictions ... u have to advise of any u have as the insurance company wont check then. but when u do make that claim the insurance company may then check and if they find uv lied ur insurance will be cancelled and i can tell u it will then be near impossible to get insured again.

i work for an insurance company btw.

Can someone just clear something up for me!! Someone rammed into the side of me last month but it all went through his insurance policy. Does that mean if it comes to renewing my car insurance it will go down as me making a claim or not. I thought that cause it all went through his that I keep my no claims discount and my policy would be unaffected when renewing it!!

Cool, you have a crash and you won't be getting much insurance payout (if any). You got a great plan there, mate! If you lie to th, you're breaking a legally binding contract, they don't have to pay out, so you could lose your car and could have to pay out for the other car(s) involved.

Yeah, good luck with that . You'll end up paying out fees for the case as well as everything I said could happen above. You're a clever one aren't you.

Exact same situation as me. Got hit by a bloke sailing through a give way. He admitted full liability and it went through his insurers - i got a payout without it going near my existing insurers, however his insurers are elephant, and in a few months it looks like im going to be going through bell, who i think are linked with elephant. Saying ive had a no fault claim bumps up my premium by £200. Its a joke.
