wierd petrol light issue

My petrol light is constantly on, before anyone says put petrol in i have got quarter of a tank lol.. and the fuel is still registering on the guage, its been on all day and wont go off, iv unplugged the sender unit cleaned up connections but no joy, can anyone help? its an 02 plate 1.2 16v

think its the battery on its way out iirc , mine does the same its a common issue i think

no idea on that? But least your light comes on! Never seen my light come on yet even while in red for long periods of time

Mine did this the other week, came on when I still had about a quarter left. Went off when I filled up and has been fine since.

im sick of seeing my light, 30mpg in a 1.2..

il try disconnecting the battery first see if that cures it but if not il get a new 1, cheers for the help people :star:

30 mpg in a 1.2?? 16v i take. i get bout that in my 1.4 8v the joys of a ment to be cheap small car. 1.5 dci ftw (what i want as a second car)

I'm sure it's a sensor that sticks or something?

Aye just put £40's worth of petrol in and that has sorted it. Cheers.
