Will 172cup Front dampers fit normal 172?

Im in a dilema as i bought some front cup dampers as i Was told they are the same as my dampers(normal 172)but im not so sure now!!
done a search but not found the answers im looking for
any help would be good

i thkn fitments the same but cup dampers are stiffer

its just when i was searching comments of geometry and bolt spacing were mentioned thats what got me thinking etc
