Will De-Icer strip Lsp's ?

A quick question.

It may sound silly i know.

As its starting to get into the frosty mornings now, if i use De-Icer on my car and it runs onto the paintwork will it strip my wax (Collinittes 476) ?

As so far i have just been scraping just in case ;)

I would think so, as well as being unkind on the window rubbers etc, I would rather spend five mins with the scraper !

in led to believe de icer doesn't do your paintwork or window seals any good at all.

I just pop out 5 mins before setting off and run the engine with the heaters on max, does the trick :)

Just put a plastic bag over your windscreen night before.

or just spray your car with the hose or watercan full of hose water make the ice/frost dissapear!

lol if you spray water on the car... yes the ice that was already there would melt... but surely the water you've just sprayed on would freeze?

not in my experience. Just a cup of cold water from the inside tap usually does the trick.

Get an old towel... Turn on your wipers, let them get up to about 45 degrees, turn off the ignition, lift them, pin the towel down under them. The towel is a lot more insulating than these cheap crappy frost shields you can get and it does a good job.

Just make sure you lift the wipers right up and let them return to the neutral position before putting them back on the screen, or they'll scrape around any small lines of ice that did form, and scrape across any ice below where the towel was, which isn't any good for the blades!

I use de-icer. Ain't got time to piss about in the mornings as I get up late lol. Just run out to the car, couple of sprays on the glass and off I go.

I just turn my engine on before I leave, worse case scenario use a scraper (or more likely a credit card) problem solved...
