Will they ever make a Renault Sport Clio DCi?

Father in laws 535 D would rip a new one into any of the renault range,

TDI's are coming alive now with new variants all the time. The new R8 V12 TDI does 100mph in under 8 seconds.Have a look in evo at the supercar section to see just how quick that is.

Give it a few years and a lot of people on here will switch to a TDI and as supercar variants come out, then the technology will filter down the ranges

Its on the wall so get used to it

indeed

agreed, but hardly apples with apples is it?

535d start at 35k or so and thats the gay SEs iirc.

277bhp, twin turbo, 3.0 versus a 2.0 n.a lump. (say 197)

hummmmm.................

  Inferno 182 w/ Recaros ;)
 at the idea of a renault sport diesel. It could just be called a 'renault diesel' There wouldn't be anything 'sport' about it.

So can the Lambo LP640, and the Ultima GTR, and the Veyron, and the McLaren F1. Whats your point that it can do 100 in under 8 seconds? What is the actual benefit of having the R8 Diesel compared to the R8 Petrol? They are both 100k cars so you wouldn't give two toss' about fuel consumption or tax.

i've yet to drive (and in my job i've driven a few) a diesel with an engine that feels even remotely sport orientated.

Maybe you should try a 6-cylinder over the average straight 4 diesel. They're a completely different engine, instant power and torque at all revs.

your all missing the point IMHO

thr 197 should have been a turbo petrol. It's the only way to go.
More research needs to be done into BIG boost turbos in small capacities

never going to happen, will hurt megane sales too much. However looking at vws 1.4TFSI with the turbo and supercharger - 170bhp and 40mpg that is superb
