Will this cambelt kit fit?

  .
Just out of interest, does it look like this cambelt kit will fit my 172 Cup?

The listing states that it does, but I wanted to check as it looks rather cheap.

Does everything look to be there as well?

Many Thanks.

hi m8 whos fitting the belt as a lot of specialists wont warrant the work unless they use their parts

  .
I was going to do it myself.

I know it isn't as easy as many cars, but I have done loads of belts in the past. Some of which were pretty complicated. (Alfa V6 24V springs to mind)

I cant see a link

Also you need the correct parts to do it otherwise timing will be out. And if you think you need to use tipex then dont even start the job as the timing will be out.

Here is the link.

I was aware of the need to use proper tools, and was going to buy some. I can soon sell them after and get some money back if need be.

I am also going to change the dephaser as it is rattling, the cam seals as they are leaking, and reseal the camshaft cover as that is leaking too.

Oh and the waterpump as well for good measure.

The belt was actually done about 12 months ago, but the dephaser wasn't and despite the receipt showing the waterpump being done as well it actually looks like they never touched it as it looks old on the outside...

Well I just checked the applications for that belt and CT977K2 is the correct kit.

the cheapest I can find it elsewhere is buypartsby, which is £61 plus delivery, so that is a very good price.

To be honest you don't want to skimp on a cambelt kit.
The gates powergrip kit is the one you want. Has metal pullys.
Clio turbo sold me one for £75

  .
I have used contitech belts on a few cars now with no problems.

I did look at Gates kits, but all of the ones I saw had plastic pulleys which looked identical to the Contitech ones.

The Contitech kits, not to be confused with the cheap "Continental" kits, are more than up to the job and normally include the OE BRS idlers and Littens tensioner. There's only so many people that actually make belts to so I wouldn't worry about the quality here either.

I only use genuine Renault kits these days and agree, this is an area where you really shouldn't skimp on quality but have used the Conti's myself in the past and they've been great.

Probably too late now but the gates kit can be had online at mister auto for about 50ish quid.... Only know as doing my belts tommorow!

  .
It is a bit late, the kit arrived the other day. £41 all in. the tensioners are made in canada although i can't remember what make they are.

I will have a go at that job once I get the gearbox/clutch issue sorted. I have all of the parts and tools, just no time to do it.
