L

looking to buy this exhaust as i cant put any other exhaust on my car because it would be classed as a after market modification where as this exhaust wont because it was an optional extra at Renault, i got mk2 07 plate 1.2 will it actually sound nice? i know 1.2 isn’t going to sound nice but i would just like a little bit of noise until i can afford insurance on a 172 aka 3 years :(

didnt read it did you i cant because that would be a modification so i cant get a power flow was just asking if anyone noes if this back box makes a diffrence? and is it worth getting i doubt it does but just worth asking

yes it will make a difference. will it make a big difference to your insurnace going for a proper aftermarket?

That will also be classed as a modification though as it didn't come as standard on your car!

Doesn't matter if it was an optional extra on some clios or not. Even if you got it fitted as an optional extra from factory...the insurance company would need to know about it.

Thats wrong, how it comes out of the factory is standard and so wouldnt need to be declared! This has been discussed thousands of times on this forum due to cup suspension packs.

However, if his insurance company have said they wouldnt class it as a modification because it was available as an optional extra thats fine, he would need to speak to them though

You said I was wrong but then agreed with what I said lol.

how could the insurance company replace it to the same spec if they do not know what is fitted?

exactly. ive got a 3L turbo engine conversion and the insurance company thinks im driving a 1.2......................

More to the point. seeing as your after a better car. go open a high interest savings account, and save £100 a month or even more if you can.

From £600 a month i managed to save £800 in 3 months. and i do go round town often. I bought another 1.2 for insurance reasons. in all honesty i dont know if ill get a cliosport anymore.

I said if it was fitted from the factory as an optional extra then it DOESNT need declaring, just like cup pack supension doesnt need declaring.

If his insurance company are happy for it to be fitted as it was available as an optional extra then it wont need declaring, to be honest, they wont know what optional extras the car came with anyway so it could well have come out the factory with it!

LOL you don't know what your talking about, did you not read the thread on declaring cup packs to the insurance company, clearly not.
When you declaring modifications it gives two options A. Alloy wheel aftermarket, B. Allow wheels optional extra.

As to the Sebring exhaust they were as standard fitted to the Clio Extreme along with lexus lights, they sound no different to standard and look shite, mainly because they hang so low.
If you want abit more noise stick an induction kit on it.

Which thread? there have been many! All the ones I have read and the advice I have recieved from brokers etc has alwasy been

'you only need to declare changes made since leaving the factory'

now that can sometimes include optional extra alloys as sometimes these are dealer fit, however the Cup Packs were not dealer fit. As for the serbring exhaust, as I under stood it these were also factory fit.

Oh and since when has there been a standard system for declaring mods as you imply there is

Ah the threads I read suggested that Cup packs had to be delclared.
I agree about declaring dealer fit options as alot of alloy wheels etc are dealer fit.
The Sebring exhaust was factory fit, but only on the Clio Extreme special edition. Seeing as the car isn't an extreme its a modification which is surely the same as sticking on the RS bumper, skirts, wings etc.
When you go through the online quote procedure with admiral and it asks is the vehicle modified this form comes up and there are very mods you can check, alloy wheels aftermarket and alloy wheels oem were on that list..

The sebrings availble as an option on everything except the 1*2s but may well have been dealer fit on everything except the extreme. End of the day when it comes to anything like this, it should be checked with the insurance company to avoid paying for a worthless piece of paper, which is what your insurance certiicate turns into if its voided.

Im with bell, and I had to declare the cup packs, although it had to go on as lots of extras, as they havent got a clue what a cup pack is. Its a right bugger, but unfortunatley has to be done.

in my opinion. why bother wasting money on an exhaust for a 1.2 car? it will never sound decent no matter what exhaust u put on it. the noise that comes from small engined cars with aftermarket exhausts on just sound terrible.

when i had my 1ltr mk2 polo, i just accepted what i had and what i could afford at the time and got on with it. no point in putting mods on crappy cars

well i wouldnt call a 07 campus i music a "crappy car" no need to put him down completely mate he asked a polite question. and if he wanted to get bitchy he could say his car is worth more than your ph1 172 but where all mates so...........

It will sound sweet with a decent aftermarket exhaust, f0xy's prospeed sounds and looks the part for example.
Agree with Brett, is choice, he could have bought 2 ph1 172s.

i never said his car was a crappy car. i never put him down either.
i agree my last sentence sounded like i was implying his was a crappy car, but i wasnt. was a general statement.

i just dont see the point in spending hundreds of pounds or even one hundred putting an exhaust on a small engined car. thats my opinion anyways.

I would never declare a dealer fit or factory option. I'm sure this would never be a problem - mainly because I worked at an insurance company for 2 years and it was never a problem. Declaring cup packs? WTF? Surely no one actually does that? Because, like, you don't need to heh. That's like declaring if you have aircon in a Cup...
