Will this starter motor fit my valver?

  LiquidPhoto.co.uk
it will cost him that much to post it! so you've got a bargin there!

fitting side, sorry, dont know, looks similar, layout wise etc

it is the same and does fit if its the one in the picture.

I change these feckignt hinsg all the time.

Normally I use 1.2 starters on the 16V's used ones are in good condition and narrower and don't suffer the heat problems.

You sure you removed and put the dowelin the right place for it?

  Valver
Its too small! The mounting bracket from my valver wouldn't fit on it because it was too wide! Possibly might have helped if I was given the bracket that fits that starter :(

But surely a starter from a 1.2 can't go on a 16v? Don't you need a lot more power to turn over a valver engine than a 1.2 and wouldn't that cause loads of extra stress if you're using a lower spec starter?

Although the dowel mountings were the same where it fits on the gearbox, the cog inside looked slightly different, maybe smaller on the new starter, and the dome-shaped shielding around the cog was definately a lot smaller on the new starter, but not sure if that would have mattered?

theres 9 and 11 teeth starters.

the 1.2's are smaller so don't suffet the heat. I used for for 50k and done it to a few other 16v's, never an issue.

As for the back bracket, 90% of them don't have them any more anyway

  Valver
oh right so don't need the back mounting anyway? Ah well! seems to have improved alot after i rubbed down all the contacts?

yeah the contacts corrode, if the back mounts there then cleanign this up improves its earthing and can help a lot.

the bracket isn't needed but nice to have.
