will xp run on this comp

my m8s lent me an old dell server computer to format and install xp on for him, its a p3 not sure on ghz but it looks like it has 2 processors from having a look inside, it also has 1024 ram. And 2 hdd's not sure on size. Im gonna try running xp pro on it do you think it will be ok, i remeber trying to tun xp on a p2 233ghz with 512 and it was crawling, but this is quicker so should run ok i hope.

anyone know if it will be ok, otherwise ill install windows 2000, machine will only be used for playing music, internet and office probably, no games.

so yes it should run but i would not like trying to run it with the spec above! guess it would just work lol! but i think you will be fine

thats weird, i had xp running fine on a 600mhz p2 with 256 of ram at one stage lol.

should work, although im no expert on hardware

will work alright really not for games but for keeping your room warm it will do very well

Yeah it will work on any p3 no problem but dont expect miracles as said.

I think service pack 2 really stresses it alot more though. Put windows 98 on it, will be fast as f**k lol.

will have no problem i run it on a similar machine although its 2 1.4ghz P3-S chips

but have ran it on a PII 400MHz with 128MB of ram no problem for a mate wasnt fast but done the job and was better than his spyware and virus infested install of 98SE
