Williams 2 predicament

  V6

I purchased a Williams 2 about 8 months ago and paid £1900 for it. Its on a M plate with only 56k miles, immaculate inside...... Sounds like a bargin i here you say. Unfortunatley the car was involved in a minnor accident last year and subsequently written off (cat C) purley because of the extensive damage to the body work. To cut a long story short I have been quoted about £1700 to repair every dent and scratch and a full respray to return it to its former glory. In additon to this cost I have recently discovered that the subframe is slighty bend which is why it pulls to the left a bit. A further cost of about £400. The engine though is in very good state, have driven about 4k miles since I have had, trouble free!! passed MOT no probs!

Do I.......

A) Cut my losses and sell for probably around £1000, £1500 if Im lucky. And then buy a left handed Audi TT for around £10000. or new 182.

or

B) Throw another £2000 at it a return it to immaculate status. I love it to bits and think its the least it deserves Bearing in mind that it would still only be worth about £4000 at the end (if Im lucky again) because it will still have the cat C. I was oringally told that the cat C can be removed, now not to sure.

Your thoughts?

£400 for the subframe is that brand new???

Its a tough one...

Ive bought mine for £3800 back in April last...and ive spent over 2.5K on repairs, and I havent even started on the body work...
I bought the Willy as part of a project.......a rather big project from the looks of it...

My goal is to get this Willy lookin and feeling like new, its just gonna take awhile

Dunno mate, Its a tricky one. I would want to keep it personally. Not many williams around now days. If you sell it i reckon somebody would jus sell it off in bits to make a profit. I saw a williams gear nob go for £30. Engines go for like £600+ and interior goes well too. I bet alot of williams have been written off so it would be nice to keep if it really. Otherwise its just another one off the road, probably.

Yeah, the subframe is about £300 from reno plus a bit of labour, may be nearer £500 in total.

Thanks fro your comments though, I think that is probably the route I will take.

Youd love it when its restored and resprayed.....(I would anyway)Appeals to me more than a left hooker TT.

Keep the Williams I think you already know that though you just need us o back you up you yourself said "I love it to bits". Take a 182 out and I can imagine the love isnt as great as it is for the Williams.

  Willy2

my mate has a second hand subframe for a willy in his garage, just sitting there, believe me the willy will be rarer over time

is the subframe te same as on all mk1s? if it is you can take my old car with a good subframe for £100 thats the whole car, front damage (wings, doors and a little on the bonnet and one head light broke and im keeping the boot lid)

Personally speaking id take it to somewhere like infinicar to get the subframe and mechancials done for a lower cost (reno are always mega bucks). As for the exterior, just do it over time - it sounds like it isnt too despirate to be done if youve managed to do 4k miles in it anyway...

TBH honest fella I would sell it or maybe even break it for spares:eek:(might fetch more that way) sometimes a bumped car is never the same again..
