Williams 3 Gearbox

Just bought a williams 3 today cheap because it has a gear box problem, driving down the road, heard a crunch and gearbox oil was out all over the road.

Does it sound like a new box or a driveshaft problem

How much for a replacement

Rang Renault specialists in Accrington, Lancashire. They quoted 260 plus VAT for a brand new box, got to get it fitted also.

£260+ vat for a new box!! sure he didint say around £600.... because thats what they are from reno! get it done if it 260 for a JC5

Gearbox sounds like it bust won't be £260 though. Maybe in labour with a clutch.

As nathan says, they are over 400 new...well over iirc!

I can now confirm the box is bust, found a how in it near to the drive shaft near to the oil sump

Get a proper Renault clutch forget any others IMO and always replace it use some decient oil.

Yep you can have a vlaver box for about 50beans

what about a 2.0 megane box, will that be any better? will it even fit?

if so what year can I use

As far as im aware the 2ltr Megane box is the same as the Willy one
