Williams Shocks

Basically I just phoned GSF to give me a quote on front shocks for the Willy, and they said theyre £29.50 each. I said to the guy like thats a bit cheap. He said theyre the same as the RSi, Is that true?

Also does anyone else know where I can get rear torsions bars from, as GSF dont do em?

Na mate. The ones on a williams are unique to the car.

Do a search for previous posts on the topic. There is a few to research.

Mine cost me £75 quid each, last week to replace from Renault. The olnly place i found to buy em. They have to be ordered direct from the manafacturer.

Also have a look at the bottom of the spring, there will be a blob of paint. (mine had 2 white dots) Make a note of this as youll need it when ordering some more.

the shockers/springs are unique to the williams.some performance shockers might be cheaper than gen renault

Took 2 weeks, but it got slowed down with the postal strikes. I looked at performance springs, but the williams is low enough anyway. Anymore and there is going to be some nasty scrubbage !

If you are anywhere in the region of the Reno dealership on the A127 near Romford, get your "Renault Only" parts there.. We get 10% off parts and 15% off service items!

Damn! I dont leave near romford.

How did u got them for £83 for the pair...these are the genuine Williams shocks yeah?

Northy_Com said they were £75 each, even with ur 10% off, it would of come to more than 83 quids.

They are genuine, Renault supplied, Williams front shocks. Double white paint marking on the base.

Northy_Com was ripped off unfortunately, the price from Renault is £40.24 + VAT (£57.75) each for the front shocks.

Even from your local dealer they should only be just over £110 the pair all in, ring around a few if the price seems high!

Talk about timing mate, if u see my first post, im actually looking for rears aswell.

My suspension is fooked :(

Ill do the full ring arounds this weekend. If I have no joy, ill PM ya to let u know.

Cheers for ya help. I appreciate it!

post the prices up if you dont mind as i think it will help a few of us as im looking to replace most of the wearing suspension parts on my williams and i doubt im the only one - saves the annoying 15min conversation with renault parts trying to establish what im after

Woo, looks like you guys where busy last night.

I paid £75 for SPRINGS, not shocks lads. Got them from Renault Romford. So i didnt get my pants pulled down on the price ! But unfortunatly with the club discount I get, it is wasted in postage costs to Huddersfield.

Part Number Description List Price

7700817986 Coil Spring £73.11
7703066362 Circlip set £00.48

Then postage costs.

Ben R and all thanks

just to clarify what is -

2 77 01 470 089 KIT SUSPENSION CL 2 ---3 22.40 ??

please exucse my ignorance

anyone even slightly mechanicaly minded please view my thread about CV problems

No idea.

But i do know that 160odd quid for 2 springs is still a hard thing to accept! Even though they are both nice and shiny.

Decided that im going to change the springs myself. Been out and bought some spring compressors today. Thats another £30 quid gone, but i betsya thats going to be a big saving on the price a garage would of charged me. Just need a good weekends weather now !

y dont u just go out n buy a full set of adjustable coilovers?

uprate instead of just replacing lol

and it doesnt work out al that much dearer either.....£450 i paid for a full set of AVO coilovers wen i had to replace 2 springs......and the front shox were gettin past their best....so upgraded .....and glad i did too

Personally I dont like avo, ive got their front shocks on at the mo, and im getting some serious scrubbage over speed bumps.

Yeah, I guess the coilovers are better than just the shocks, but then arent we going into the debate, on how peeps think Willys should be modified???

Personally Im gonna go back to the originals, this will look better as a selling point in the future, and hopefully the handling will improve aswell.

well coilovers can lower the car by as much as u want or they can b set to original height, they just seem to stop the roll on mine .....

it all depends on how its set up

too hard on the road and they will skip and bounce around.....try softening them up , and if u get scrubbage on the wings try highering it a little too

back to original questions the rear shocks look very similar on a williams, point taken on the front but on the rear its just a wider beam with the shocks mounting inline with the 16v

Just my uneducated observation!
