williams shocks

  transit connect

i have a williams 3 with a steering prob.doesnt feel as solid as it did a few months ago.tracking been checked and fine, gargae that serviced it checked over it twice couldnt find anything i was thinking maybe a faulty shock what problems do these cause and how do i check them ???

it could be just the column thats about 200 quid my rack was leaking to thow the bushes wear out on the column and u get a slack point in between going left and right

there doesnt feel like any play when i move steering wheel soetimes it seems ok thought it could be a bush or maybe the shock its really bugging me need my handlingf back. got to the stage when when im booting it have to back off cos it doesnt feel to solid need it sorted as rest of the car is mint

the other thing it could be is sh*t tyres with week side walls i had that to if i cornered really hard they went flat cos the seal broke lol

i have fairly good pirelli p6000 on there it feels like the steering is v light and is getting controled by the bumps in the rd rather than me .also on the motorway it drifts to left slight when wheel is stright but tracking is good pissing me off cos it was fine a few months ago since i started driving it everyday 2 work its happened

Its prob the column, very common on the valver and willy, a mate of mine sorts it for a fraction of the price of a new column, we need to meet as he fixed my steering you can have a feel of mine and compare it to yours

when i went to get the tracking done the wheels were sitting str8 which he said was fine but the toe in toe out persitions were wrong would this cause the problems i am having?

To check if its the colum... wiggle the steering wheel left to right - there should be no play or rocking.

Hope that helps pal

by play u mean the steering wheel moving and the wheels not??this doesnt happen im fairly sure its something simple like maybe a bush as the car has been v well looked after and only on 50k.....would the toe in toe out settings cause the problems i am getting ?dont wanna pay out 25 quid if i wont notice a difference?

remember that cars can do get pulled around alot by the road surface all cars pull to the left a bit because of the camber of the road im sure its fine mate i had three valvers a gtt a fiat coupe and my willy and they all do it my van does it my parents car does it my sisters car does it dont woory man

if u drive on the wrong side of the road (not recomended)it will pull to the right its all been checked dont worry and if u can see the road is totally flat or draining both sides of the road it should feel better when i boot my car on a bumpy road say in town it pulls all over the place
