People always know what a Williams is... or 50% of them at least, especially men under 50.
Well when they were new, they were what, 13k.. which wasnt cheap back then.. so its probably older people. Now, they can be had for decent money so younger people can have them - but, the insurance is high.. so.. like.. it keeps the age up a bit I guess.Quote: Originally posted by James on 15 June 2004
I wonder what the average age of Williams owners was when they were new, and how old the are now?
Just curious.

90% of people make up stats to justify an argument.
People have asked before, "What do you drive?" "A Clio Williams" and then they like, look at ya and say "Bet thats fun isnt it?!" or something along those lines..
if all your mates are clio owners then yes i suppose they do
Id say most people know about Frank Williams.. and they instantly link the two.
Which would be silly and wrong of them.
I cant understand people who say bad things about the Williams - yes, it is old.. but its STILL regarded as one of the best hot hatches ever.. look at the Evo article.. it came 6th in the best 10 cars of the last decade.. now Im guessing, thats pretty good? Or am I being an idiot with rose tinted glasses on cus I own one?
Bit of both, granted it is a good car but its way way over hyped.

If its over hyped.. why dont ANY reviews EVER say.. "this car is overhyped.. its not that great".. They dont.. I dont think Ive ever read a review which has said anything bad about how the Williams performs..
We know its silly.. but Williams was a marketing name.. has it worked? Of course.. most people seem to think Williams tuned it.. but its had the right effect yea? If they said "RenaultSport Clio 16v!" it wouldnt have the same effect would it?

It goes without saying, its a clio.
Even your post suggests it was intended to be overhyped.
Your forgetting the more recent homologation special then?Quote: Originally posted by Daz on 14 June 2004
Williams is the only Clio which was made because they had to.. to compete in Rallies.
Its more exclusive in as much as it was designed for a purpose - to win rallies.

Anyway....its getting right on my tits all this squabbling over whos car is best, get over it, its a car not a major life decision, enjoy what you have got and appreciate other peoples choices.
Take care.
