Winter Protection Detail - My Megane R26

  Megane R26
I finally got my Megane back from Renault on Friday afternoon, following a failed starter motor. The final bill was £1300, but Renault UK paid the majority, so I was left with a bill of £250.

On Saturday, I took my car to get its tyres checked, and it turned out that my front pair had MASSIVE bulges on the inner tyre walls. So, I needed two new tyres. I decided to go for a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport 3's, which cost me a whopping £175 each!

Whilst at Renault, it had also turned out that for whatever reason my exhaust wasn't on properly and so I was losing power (?). How right they were. Since having the car back, and on these new tyres, I am astounded by the performance. I always wondered why it received the reviews it did, and now I know!

So, with a bit of love for my car, I decided to give it a very quick winter protection details today.

Process was:

- Wheels hand washed with Optimum Car Shampoo and Dodo Captain Crevice
- Tyres and arches scrubbed with G101 @ 4:1
- Car washed with Optimum Car Shampoo
- Paintwork cleansed with Carlack 68 NSC
- 1 layer of Carlack LLS
- 3 layers of Werkstat Jett Trigger
- Pinnacle Black Onyx on the tyres
- Carlack LLS and 1 layer of Jett Trigger on the wheels
- Exhaust with Optimum Metal Polish
- Glass with Jett Trigger (it has Xtravue from Elite on it)

The aim is to get 10 layers of Jett on in total - should last quite well :)

Thanks,

Russ.

Finally found time to have a look at the photos on a decent Vaio screen - lovely, just lovely. Tyres look good and the finish on them is excellent! A product you'd recommend?

Definitely - Pinnacle Black Onyx. It's not cheap, but it lasts very well, and looks good.

Sounds sad, but my next tyre choice will have a certain amount of "looks smooth" in the deciding process! P6000 are horrendously fussy with all the writing.

For someone so avidly into detailing, I'm not sure how you put up with having a silver/titanium car!

Lovely clean though. :)
