Wiper mechanism

Hi my wiper mechanism makes what can only be described as a clujnking sound when it hits the end limit going across, it also jumps slightly. A quick look at it and it appears the ball type joint on the nearside is worn. Has anyone else changed this mechanism it looks a pain.

Hi Yorkshire lad,
I had this very same issue last month, The wipers were making a grinding/squeeking noise when moving across the screen. Renault at first replaced the motor and then admitted once the fault returned that it was the link arm assembly that was not tightned correctly.

Yes its definatley the mechanism, there is no grinding its just a clunk at the full extent going across. Was the repair expensive? I know renault dealers in huddersfield are expensive (very)

Hi.
To be honest I cant comment on cost, mine was done under warranty. I am beginning to think that I am going to have an expensive time owning this car! I think the mechanisum is covered by a plastic cover thats visable once you open the bonnet, its held on by two plastic screws at either end (me thinks) You could take that off and have a look. I wouldnt count on renaults diagnostic skills to diagnose it to be honest.

They can be expensive to own, I had a cracked gearbox casing, renault wanted £1100 to fix it Topgear transmissions in cleckheaton charged me £280 and put a new casing on with my original internals so I try to avoid dealers. I will just have to scout around for this repair to be done I think, fixing it is not a problem its just getting it apart that concerns me.

I know what you mean, anything french is gunna be a B**ch to take apart cos they think of clever ways to make our lives hell.
