Wipers playing up...

The windscreen wipers have started acting up on my GFs P-Reg 1.4 RT during the past couple of days...

If you put the stalk in the intermittent wipe position it just wipes constantly at normal speed, so there is no intermittent wipe now!

Also, they do not park themselves anymore, so if you switch the wipers off (in any mode) and they are in the middle of the screen, they now stay there!

Got any ideas? Is this a know fault?

Im thinking relay myself, but havent had a chance to look yet...

p.s. the passenger side leccy window sometimes wont come back up too, but then its ok again. Another common fault?

The wiper problem sounds like a fault with the park switch in the wiper motor assembly. You might be able to strip it down and clean it, but it might be easier to source a replacement.

Mate, I had this problem after using the wipers to clear snow off the windscreen. Thought Id damamged the motor.

Check the fuses mate, cured mine.

tell her to scrape the ice off before using the wipers!

My passenger window swith hasnt worked for ages, started intermitently then after a few months stop going up or down. So I reckon poor contacts within the switch, havent bothered checking it out, but I think it is common.

Yeah, she has now admitted that she tried to clear the frost off the windows (5:30 in the morning) and the wipers were stuck, so I thought shed blown a relay or a fuse...

Will check the fuse box later.

cheers :)

Might try taking the switch out & testing it...

Forgot to mention that the passenger window works fine when using the drivers side switch, so it can only be a dodgy switch (on the passenger side)

Similar on hers...

The drivers side switch works more often than the passenger side one!

Sorted it! :D

Turns out it was just a blown fuse as you said...

Cheers
