Wipers Stopped Working

I was on the M40 tonight in the drizzle and the wipers where on automatic but i needed them to be safter so i moved the wiper handle down one so it was on continous wiping, but the wipers stopped all together, i pushed the handle right down but nothing, i put it to the top (off position) then to the automatic position (nothing happened) and then down to the fastest position, but still nothing happened. By this time i had to go on to the hard shoulder, turn the engine off and then back on to fix the problem, it worked, but this is VERY dangerous, what happened? Did the computer just crash or something?

This happened to me on my 182 last month....IN TORRENTIAL RAIN....



wee fright...pulled over, the motor was running but the wipers werent moving...the nuts holding them on had came loose...



FONED UP RENAULT ASSISTANCE and let them foot the bill for something i could have fixed in 16 seconds...



Its not my job..
The guy said this happens all the time to clios.?? they need tightening every so often wtf..??

also check your wires goin to the motor,mine had been rubbing on the linkage and cut threw the wires makin them short

Same thing here on my 182...

Took it to the dealers, they tightened the nuts and away I went

check under the glove box area for leaks.

my 172 had the main ecu unit (reno call it the uch unit) filled with water and shorted everything out.

Still waiting for parts 12 weeks later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and no sign.

It should take that long the UCH unit is cshared with the rest of the high spec Clios ie dynamique.

Give Renault Uk a call and get them to get the garage to do some work.

The parts can be ordered from France within a few days.
