i just got sky broadband and a netgear wireless usb adaptor.
connects fine to Ps3 and mobile. But my pc keeps connecting to network then dropping every 10seconds.

I have downloaded the latest drivers for usb adaptor
tried repairing connection by right clicking and it keeps saying cannot renew IP address!!

Help please ASAP,

How old is the card?

The netgear routers output at WPA can your card handle that?

it can be changed back to WEP but i dont recommend it

when you say new its the wg111 which i think has been around for some time, so what does this change thing do? and how do i do it?

WEP puts back to an older encryption which will probably work

You need to log into the router to change it

address should be http://192.168.0.1 or something simular

Username is admin
password sky

I believe off the top of my head!

then you need to go to wireless encryption and change it from WPA to WEP and set a key

My ex gf had the same problem, they had 3 laptops in the house and only 2 would work until i changed the settings

All work fine now and have ever since

cant seem to access router at the moment, but windows had just said limited resourcing/network activity

Doesnt really matter which one you choose as long as it works on all PC's

Sounds like your router isnt giving u a valid IP address for the network. To find out the direct IP to conenct to your router do the following:

1. Open up Command prompt (start>run>cmd)
2. Type ipconfig /all
3. This will display a list of configurations, the IP address to the router is the one after the words default gateway. This is because the router is the defualt gateway believe it or not?lol

This number shuld be ###.###.###.### may not have three numbers after every dot but shuld be in that format. You can access your router via an internet browser, jsut simply type that number in the URL.

Once ur logged onto the router check some of the settings, have a mess around if u have to but just remember how to put it back to how it was!!
