Wireless Routers - 108Mbps or 54 Mbps?

  Mk2 Golf GTI
I'm going to buy a wireless router this afternoon for my PC network at home and also to use my PSP online.
Is a 54Mbps router good enough for gaming on the PSP? I dont play online with the PC so that's not a problem, only use it for surfing and downloading files of 100mb max.
Will there be a noticeable difference if i upgrade to 108Mbps?
Also thinking of using a USB 2.0 adapter instead of a wireless PCI card, any disadvantages to using these?
Cheers

108Mbps is possible outside of the 802.11g WiFi IEEE standards by manufacturers if you use their own dedicated Wifi products.

Example, buy a Belkin wifi access point/router and a Belkin Wifi card and you can, if permitted achieve 108Mbps, however if you use a different brand Wifi card you will slip down to 54Mbps. As would be the case if a mate comes round who didn't have Belkin stuff.

use 54Mbps at home and for surfing the net I don't notice anything much in the way of speed difference. :)

54 Mbps is the communication speed between the router and the wifi stick on the PC. If your DSL is only 2Mbps then that will be the bottleneck.

I went wireless a few weeks ago, its excellent having no cables trailing around the room from the phone socket to the PC, worth it for that alone.

Have fun

Unless you are going to be doing lots of file transfers then i would get 54Mbps. You will never max that out by downloading from the web anyway :)
