Wiring diagram, help needed please?

Need someone a bit in the know here, basically Renault been Renault decided to change the wiring in Clio's manufactured from January 2005 onwards, resulting in all the audio adaptors currently on the market being useless. I am wanting to get my head up display and steering controls to function by hook or by crook ;) so I need someone with access to detailed diagrams of the pre 2005 and post 2005 setup to help me out please :D I'm guessing it's just a couple of wires that have been swapped, surely Renault didn't redesign the loom completely in the dieing months of the 182? :S

Any help mucho appreciato :)

The whole setup changed from those dates.

This was mainly to accomodate the new HU's from tuner List to update List.

The output displayed on screen is also different from the previous setup. There are a few post 2005 adaptors out there. These send a different output to the screen etc...

So i dont think its a simple case of wire changing.

I hit a brick wall on this one Daz, I had a good contact for this sort of info, but he was warned by his boss to stop giving "secret" Renault information out.

What is it with them? I have full circuit diagrams for the E60 M5, but i cant get radio wiring data for a Clio.

I also noticed the people that are selling the Diology CD Rom's on Ebay are getting grief from Renault.

What have they got to hide. ???

Its an admission of a faulty product plus there so mnay people out there who won't use the things correctly.

Plus the stuff for the dialogues is Renault properly it was stolen and distributed.

This is correct.

Diology Software is Renault Owned Propietry software - not intended for public use.

As such they have every right to take legal action.

I take all that on board, but what it means in reality is, you have bought a product for which the manufacturers are denying you access to the information required to understand how it works, or repair it.

What would happen if Apple or Toshiba for example, did the same with their computers, or Ransom's with their lawn mowers, or............ Im sure you get the point.

Its not as if they are protecting patents, all this stuff is prior art or un-patentable.

Renault are the only manufacturer who deny access to this. They wont even supply Haynes publishing with information on the Clio sport models.

This has only been the case since 2000 as prior to that, anyone could walk into a Renault dealer and buy a copy of the workshop manual and wiring diagrams.

Lets face it, all this is an attempt to force you into taking your car to an official Renault dealer and not an independent specialist. They are circumnavigating the European law that prevents that.

Where would we be if there were no rules ?

Yeah it's proving to be a bit of a puzzler this one lads. I really can't understand why they decided on the Update list instead of keeping the Tuner list
Thanks for trying your source Brian I do appreciate it but I don't want anyone getting into trouble! ;)

Hi All,

I had the updated tuner from Renault in my 2005 clio 182. Ive used the InCarTech stalk adaptor for my aftermarket Alpine head unit without issue. It's fully functional and quick to respond to button pushes. I am sure there is links somewhere to internet sites selling the adaptors.

Hope my ramblings help.

Rich :)

Thanks Ritch, does it also operate the head up display? As that's what I'm after, both OE functions being retained.

hi daz, the incartec adapters simply say a brand name on the oem display and when you use a stalk button they say vol up or whateva the function was.

I use the incartec adapter with the alpine unit i bought from u :)
