Wiring Power Caps

  1.6 16v
As some of you know i now have a problem with me battery dieing on me all the time and its only since i have installed the power cap.

How do u wire these things up, i have done it i just want to make sure i have done it right?

i believe u get the positive main power cable direct from the battery

battery -> cap -> amp

yep, that's how i've always wired them up, never used one myself though as they are totally useless lol

get rid of it... if your battery wasn't dying before why fit a carp.

not that caps stop your battery dying though ;)

i have magic beans that make your system sound 3 times as loud when you place them on the amps... wanna buy some :D

yeah in my old car not got in my 182 happy with the standard one at the moment i did have problems with a flat battery so i went to sextons and they checked it and it was broken so they let me have a new one and it was ok then you have to charge it before you put it on a battery if you dont it wont work

it shud stay constantly charged once in line , then recharge when needed

my thoughts n e ways

You put a multimeter in line of the power cable and the cap thats what i was told when i got mine but it still made my batery go flat so i took it back and it was falty take it back and get it checked

what a load of rubbish

they take their charge from the battery upon connection, once the ignition is turned on, they then start to draw

RIte the cap will be coming out today hopfully but

Y is the engine running at 3000rpm when i start it up and then gets higher auto.

i only charged the batt up???????????????

what? a power cap stays at whatever voltage you electrical system is at and it doesn't get switched on or off.

to charge you need a 12v lamp and connect it between the - on the cap and the - cable and once it goes out it's charged.

the only reason for this is that they have a MASSIVE in-rush current

Mine always turned off when the LCD voltage droped and the amp was not drawing from it so when the cd player wasnt on that turns of the amp off with remote cable why should it stay on when not being used brian read what dink said its the rush off current when new that breaks them if not charged :approve:

the only bit the in-rush current would break is the terminal on top

the little display going off don't mean the cap is off

So the cap is broken if that bit is you cant replace it i dont think so you need a new one then . I just thought that it was off when display goes off
