Wish You got This Service from Renault

  The Jinx

When my g/f first took delivery of her 1.4 s Ibiza 3yrs ago (from Lookers Seat in Trafford) there was a chip in the passenger mirror. After pointing it out they said theyd sort it. They actually came and picked the car up from where she works near Manny airport (a good 20-25min drive away), and dropped it off again afterwards.

Now I was well impressed but assumed maybe thats cos it was new and they wanted to make an impression.

Shes just booked it in for a service and MOT (its only done 13k in 3 yrs!) and was thinking wed have to go on Sat morning due to our work hours.

Nope theyve booked it in for wednesday and will pick it up from where she works and drop it off in the afternoon.

Renault could learn a lot from that. If I had the money Id be buying from this Seat garage. The staff are superb and the guy that sold her the Ibiza even knows every car that Ive owned! Even though Ive only been there once in each car (3 in 3yrs now)

Most dealers in the Edinburgh area have been doing this for quite a few years and as the drivers are mostly retireds looking for something to do, they arent interested in hammering your cars, unlike some of the guys on here who I can imagine might drive someone elses car like a maniac, just like they hammer courtesy cars!!

They either drive up and leave their car in your work car park to collect later, or another driver drives the guy who is to collect your car. My hubby has occasionally used this service in the pastand he works about 30 miles from the main dealers. His cars have been brought back washed and valeted too! The garages will also come to your house and collect your car too. One of the sales guys at our BMW dealer lives near us and has taken hubbys car for its service and left his car for our use.

:D

PS: Hubby has never owned a Renault!! ;)

But the nearest Renault dealer to me, before the dreaded Reg Vardy took it over would collect and deliver your car too. It is probably a common service and probably encourages some owners to use a particular garage as it frees up the customers own time.

WA Lewis (Renault Main Dealer) in Telford will pick up and return your car no problem at all. Its a small thing but very important - I think the service from this dealer is one of the reasons that Telford is over-run with Clios!

I bet if you had some spare time and rang round various garages, you would find that most of them employ older retired people who collect and deliver cars. Its just that many people dont like the thought of others driving their cars or maybe they have something that they want to personally discuss with the garage.

Ah but they wouldnt offer up front with you having to ask is my point. Seat just said theyd pick it up.

Youd probably have to beg a renault dealer to do that. Then theyd charge you for it!

I used to get that done with my PUG, but then again, I did spend best part of £900 on it! they picked my car up, performed diagnostics on it, and when they found more on it than it had been booked in for, they gave me a loan car (I did have to politely inform then that if they didnt give me a loan car, Id have to take my business elsewhere. They did that, and then picked their car up and returned my car when theyd done the work. (Although they cocked one thing up which ruined my overall impression of the cowboys at Peugeot!!! :p
