Woodpecker sound when turning? -solved

  172DD Cup
chances are it's the pulley on your power steering pump working itself lose. had this the other day, my fault for trying to do the three pulley bolts up with a tiny 10mm spanner instead of a socket wrench. could have been expensive. so if there's a woody sound from your engine, check these bolts quick! hth.

if you struggle for access, you can sort it from underneath. might have to drop a splash-guard first. get a 16mm socket on the crankshaft bolt and turn it clockwise to rotate the pulleys. tighten one bolt up, back to the crank pulley and rotate until the next bolt comes into access, so on and so forth.

if you can get a torque wrench on there, it's probably 20-25nm for these bolts, but don't quote me
