Worrying squeal/screech from engine bay.

  Black 182 FF
Just been washing my car, moved it over from the other side of the road and everything was fine. Then I started washing it and had to move it back slightly as someone was changing a tyre in front of my car and as I did I got a kind of screech or squeal lasting a few seconds and I turned the car off after about ten seconds after I moved it back slightly. I then started it again and the noise was there again, only ran it for about 5 seconds and turned it off again, seemed to go off as I revved it slightly. About 5 minutes later I started the car again and there was no noise at all and seems fine now. There does seem to be a very very very faint rattle (and it is very faint, possibly me being a bit paranoid) which could be anything.

I'm guessing belts of some variety (no guesses where they were changed on 38kish two years 3 months ago,now on 49k). I'm also guessing I'm going to have to get it looked at and there's a Renault specialist in the Ind Est at the top of my road(no idea how good they are though). Any ideas or other suggestions?

I was thinking that after reading another thread. I had just done the bonnet and chucked water over it, hmm.

Sounds like the aux belt slipping. Probably wet as above, but it's overdue for changing anyway

edit, misread, done at 38k, not 38k ago.......needs looking at anyway

The only thing i could think is the aux belt is squealing maybe when you washed in the wheel arch a bit of water got on to it?

It must have been the water. Had another look under there and took it around the block. Think I'll get it checked soon anyway as it's made me paranoid.
