Would A Blowing Exhaust Effect Power Output?

  VRS
Just a general question really and its probably a stupid one but my exhaust is blowing like a mofo from the shitty clamp which holds the decat to the centre section.

it pretty much sounds like the exhaust exits under the drivers door at the moment lol

im going to get it sorted as i have a day off tomorrow but was wondering whether this would have effected the cars power output when it was on the rollers? im not going to get it done again as i cant be bothered but would it have lost power through this or does it not effect the readings as its still technicallly exiting the car?

cheers

yes it would def effect power, exhausts are an important part of how an engine runs mate so i know from experience it does lol

lol no... more. you could effectively lose the majority of output by seriously altering your back pressure.

I remember losing the exhaust from the downpipe on my old xr2.... and the poor little kent engine wouldn't move

oh rite, well im glad im getting it sorted 2moz, i thought the little beast seemed a bit drained when i tried a few 'close call' overtakes the other day lol
usually she nips in and out but when i floored it she seemed a little sluggish and resulted in less 'comfortable' overtakes lol

Yep. I had a 1.2 nova that the exhaust dropped off, just after the down pipe. Would it f**k move, stuggled big time climbing up hills that it would normally fine with!!! Will lose torque too. Get it fixed :)

nice one

its my fault really as i tried to give it a better seal after i fitted the btb so i decided to jack it up and stick some fresh silicone on the clamp.

as i undid the clamp the blond moment hit and i realised that now the exhaust was all fastened up it was going to pull away from the decat once the clamp was off.

i couldnt for the life of me scabble under the car, hold the decat and the centre section together whilst siliconing the clamp and fastening it up lol, i needed 3 pairs of hands lol so the result was a shitty blowing exhaust and a few cuts and graxes on the knuckles :clown:

Yeah, they are a poor design imo. The 172 just had two ends that meet up and bolt together, easy. 182 has a clamp that needs binning, it cant be used again. I'm lucky as me and steve fitted my Milltek on a two post lift. We paid special attention to the cat joint as it seems to cause loads of problems for other peeps. Been on a week, touch wood seems OK, shame about the rear alignment of mine though, the hangers all seemd 5mm out :(

good stuff, glad your liking the miltek :) i was all set to get one until the bargain btb turned up, i like the design as both systems pretty much use the same one :)
