would the 197 inlet manifold fir to a 172/182?

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
im guessing this is where most of the power came from?

will the fit the 172 head?

wonder how much they are from renault?

  Clio 182
The 197 has many different components... The block is the Turbo block with the wide bolt pattern bellhousing... The Crank (I think) is different... The Cams are different... The ECU mapping is basically the same as the group N 182 ecu..

Main problem is the bonnet on the 172 wouldnt close due to the hight of it.

What id like to know is minus the bonnet prob, in theory, which would give better gains. A 197 inlet or a machined 172 one?

it wont fit. you'd be better off with a better custom inlet with a new tb.

wont that cost a bomb LOL .. was only thinking anways.. i have other mods on mine but just wondered about this

  VX220 Turbo
hmm scrapyard anyone? so therefore if the block is similar I take it the 6 speed box would also fit??

might have to keep mye eyes out for a scrapped 197

You wanna wait for a twingo and stick the 197 lump in that instead ;)

wwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeee hehehehheheheheheeh!

now that would be p0rn!

  VX220 Turbo
f***k it then sounds like too much effort if I was doing all that i'd search more for a 225 lump and have all the ball ache fitting that and an intercooler and new exhaust downpipe and wiring lol..

actually thingking about it sticking with the f4r lump sounds like a good idea

BBPT turbp kit would give 270bhp so no need faff around with a 225 lump......

225 lump comes with a stonger engine though pistons are proper Low CR con rods stronger etc. Plus mates up to the stronger 6 speed gearboxses (ok though to fit one you need to cut the front arms of the car to make it fit).

Just ned to sort the clutch pedal (hydrolic clutch on them although thats quite easy to fix), mounts (only mount is the same as the Clio) and the driveshafts.

Definatly worth the hastle rarther than 172 turbo by miles.

Surely 5k turbo conversion would be cheaper than 225 lump, shafts, loom, labour etc etc though? Low C pistons all come with but the gearbox will suffer for sure...

If money came from your ass then definatley but it would be a LOT more work and money!

Depedns where ou get the engine fromt stock 225 engine will see 270hp so its just as powerful and more reliable than a turbo 172.

As for price well ktec sell the kit for the 172 tubro for £4k I think and since you can get megan 225 engine and boxes for less than that which are not only tested but also you have a fre engine and cna sell your old block etc.

Yeah you could buy a 225 engine for that but fitting costs would be huge! You'd be alright but Joe Bloggs would'nt have the foggiest!

I havent seen or heard of anyone completing a 225 conversion in a Clio yet so it cant be as easy as it all sounds.

Never even seen a 225 in a breakers yet !

VAG engines been done and the 20 valve lump is common so thats a far better compromise and probably a lot cheaper than a 225 conversion ever will be
