its a black 172 and the paint isnt in bad nick but there are a fair few dings and scraches around it and the front bumper is pretty blizt with stone chips with a few on the lowwer part of the bonnetas well. just wondered if people would thnk it to be a waist of time or wether i should do it whilst i have a little time to my self. the car is by no means a shed but im not sure if people only clay mint condtion cars that only have swurl marks and contaminants.

Do you understand what clay does?

It removes bonded on filth, It doesn't correct your swirls. Its merely prep for a proper polish.

Although I would clay, polish, seal/wax it. Just be warned claying makes it look worse than when you started. And if you dont lube up you scratch up

yeah i know what it does bud, but what im saying is if the finished result is not going to be perfect anyway, is there a point in doing it. if it is worth doing it then i will as i want to, but i dont want to do it for people to then say "oohhh i woudnt have bother with that because you car is all scrached and dented any way, i would have just polished it".

Why you bothered what people will say? If you want to do it then do it and see if like the results. If not, no harm done and at least your paintwork is decontaminated

true just dont want to waist them money on somthing that isnt going to make a difference but like said if i want to do it then i should so i think im gonna pop out and get some because if nothing else at least i get the eperiance of doing it. also i assume that it is clayed before it is mopped.

It will make polishing, the follow up stage, much easier as you will be polishing effectively a fresh surface. The overall finish in the end should be a lot slicker, worth doing once in a while
