Would you swap tyres over?

Hey

My 182 has a bit of an odd combo of tyres.

The rears are matching and are equal in tread depth.

However the fronts are two completely different makes and patterns with different tread depths (marginally).

I know the most ideal thing to do would be to get them matching but funds say no.

Would people recommend swapping the fronts with the rears as they are doing the turning etc?

Thanks for any replies

  A shiny black one.
Leave the matching rears on, the fronts will wear much faster, then you can get them changed for matching tyres sooner.

I have to have the same four tyres on all corners, it really annoys me if any are different, a bit of ocd i think.

I got a puncture on my two month old car last week. The tyre was a Sport Contact 2. All I could get at short notice was a Sport Contact 5. It makes me cry a little every time I see it.

Always leave the best tyres on the rear of the car. Understeer is easier to correct than oversteer and much safer on the road. The RAC, VOSA and AA all recommend the best rubber goes on the rear!

This is written for the average joe who has little or no idea of car control. It completely depends on the competency of the driver. on FWD car the fronts do almost all thw work. And whilst you 'should' have good tyres all round, I would always prefer by best tyres to be doing the braking and steering.

Never really understood the 'best tyres at the rear' nonsense.

I've had sh*t tyres on the front and it's absolutely horrifying.
I've had sh*t tyres on the back and it's better but still sh*t.

Maybe the OP is your average Joe and wouldn't control oversteer drifting need for speed style with ease.
