WTF? Auto Headlights....

Hi there y'all, here's a curious one for ya..

Yesterday I changed the cigarette lighter on my mk2 172 cos the orange "holder" had been removed by the previous owner for some reason, so i fitted a new one to take it back to standard.

Dead easy,unplug, plug new un in.

But last night my headlights wouldn't come on automatically when they worked the day before! Could not figure out why.

So, anyone reckon these two things are related or just a coincidence, also, what the heck can I do to fix the auto lights??!!

turn the lights on then off 3 times and it will beep at you telling you the auto lights are turned on again (dont know how they turned off in the first place!)

Dude if that works you are a legend! If not you're still a legend but my lights won't work!

Yeh thats how you turn them on and off, beeps twice to say their turned on I think.
Look in the manual for definite, says in there.

thats correct, just got to make sure you do it with the key in the ignition position, but with the engine not running.

lol... i usually have them set to off but occationally i somehow managed to pull off that sequence by mistake....and the light come on automoatically. God knows how.
