XBOX 360 Disc Drive Problem - Help!

Had my 360 for a couple of years now, 60gb version.

Recently the disc drive has been playing up big time, when I first start up the console and put a disc in, it literally takes about 15-20 mins before it can read the disc. Just either says "Open Tray" as though there is no disc in there, so i take it out and put it back in a few times, then after a while it starts thinking the game is a DVD, so take it out again etc, then loads the game but stops and says "disc error", so AGAIN load it in and out again and finally starts to play.

Its almost as though its "warming up" before it can play anything?!

Dont know if anyone else has experienced this and knows the solution to it etc or whether it means i need to send it off for a fecking stupidly priced repair job or get a new 360 altogether!

I have the eact same problem, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

So annoying, but I think a new disc drive is the only way forward ...!

Pain in the a$$ isnt it especially when you want to cram a quick game of FIFA in on your lunch break

Mine did this and the Disc drive was replaced under warranty (1yr) by Xbox.

Yep - I'm tempted just to buy the new one soon anyway, although I only really use the xbox when new games come out ...

When I first got my XBOX I never registered it or anything on the website etc so would they be able to know if i've had it for 2 years or 2 months? Just thinking I could call them and say i've had it only for like 6 months or something and see what they say?
