Xenon Headlight (Drivers side)

I've recently bourght some Xenon headlights from a 182 and the passenger side seems fine, the drivers one though has come loose inse of the plastic fitment. I think its meant to clip into 3 plastic clips to hold it in place and also so you can adjust the headlight. I have no idea how to put them back into place because I either need tiny hands or I am going to have to brake the casing of the headlight. Got a couple of pics aswell as its quite hard to explain. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

Cheers guys

ok

the bottom pic is the piece that locks the headlight unit into the slam panel of the car, look at the top of the light and you will notice its missing that bit . . . lol

the first pic is the adjustment part. that is easy to fix; it is literally as it looks ie a "U" shaped holder with a ball joint. so put the ball joint at the bottom and then push (quite hard) upwards and the ball will click into the "U" shape and be able to slide up and down.

having said all that, with the second photo you fcuked mate, sorry to say. mine came like that from ebay and had to reclaim off royal mail for brand spankers.

there is no way of getting to it easily and therefore you would need to break the casing which would mean letting moisture in = condensation on inside = not good

ahh man don't say that :( theres actually 3 clips which the headlight is supposed to sit in but they have all come out. Is there no way of getting all the ball joints into the holders just by fiddling about with it? Or is best bet just to send them back?

Adam

what about if I took the back of the bulb housing box off so I could get my hand inside there? It honestly musn't be that hard to fix.. nothing has phsically broken it just needs pushing back into place lol and I so don't want the hassle of trying to arrange a refund!

Anyone tried doing anything like this?

Adam

When they fully come away in the inside there pretty much useless.

Its a new headlamp casing needed which is about £185+VAT from Renault.

There pretty much impossible to get them to "pop" back onto the ball joints.

Surely you can pull the interior of the light towards you and pop them back into the ball joints no?

There in better condition that one of mine that royal fail destroyed for me, they completely smashed the clips up rather than just popping them out.

yeh the passenger side is fine, all 3 balls are in tehre joints. Just had a go at taking the backing of the light off to see if I could get more of my hand inside but its no use, I just get frustrated. Anyone know where I can get 2 more from? Gonna send these back and get refunded.

Adam

the passenger one is in imaculate condition lol just so unfortunate that the drivers side felt it neccessary for the ball joints to poop out of there fcuking holders!! grrrr If I don't get refunded can we start a "Charity for Bloooor" maybe? £5 from everyone until it reaches £300?

.. Much love.

Well I only payed £160 for mine (not like i'm rubbing it in or anything ) and royal mail told me to politely f**k off when I tried to claim £200 for a new casing. They said it wasn't packed properly and send me a leaflet the cheeky b******s , rather more like they'd played 5-a-side with it but oh well.

Does the actual xenon work? I managed to get a replacement casing of ebay for £40 and swapped the xenon ballast/starter/bulb over and I was sorted. If it doesn't then thats going to be a shitter.

I haven't tried them as I dont have my car back. The guy I bourght them from said they are fine and working and all I had to do was plug them in. I haven't seen a light casing on ebay for ages, been looking for some of these on ebay for atleast a month... you seem to get everything sorted bmh lol can you come help me build my car :D

Yeh i've just had a look and nothing I can find. I was real lucky as there was a casing on there and the right side just when I needed one.
I was majorly pissed off when I found that one was broken when I had mine, just had to calm down and start looking for a solution and I got lucky.

The best part is when you need to swap them out for the MOT mind!, just had mine and I can do rally speed changeover now lol. Heh if only you were closer.

  BMW M135i
haha how come you have to change em for the MOT? thought some companies didn't mind?

Lack of washer and self leveling and VOSA tightening up on them. Probably could find somewhere that'd pass it but the place I like to use 99.9% wouldn't of and I wasn't wasting £39 finding out for the sake of a 30 minute bumper on/off job.

ah right, what do you think is the best bet for me then? Try to find another casing? (even though I still don't know whether the HID's work or not) or just get a refund and call Matt Black? He's usually got some in and he's a decent bloke so they hopefully won't get pissd about in transit lol

If the xenon works and you can get a casing cheap enough then thats an option or if you can get a refund and a full new set cheaper off matt black of something like that then i'd go down that route. Although i've got no idea how much SRB let them go for.

When did you get the current ones from?

  BMW M135i
Probably cheaper to get a refund and a new set then, if you can do that. As I doubt the casings are cheaper than 50 smackers from SRB?

got current ones from ebay. Gonna ask him for a refund 2moz then give Matt a ring see what price he can do some for (and see if he's got any in lol)

Thanks for the help guys.

Could have problems with them being on ebay and i'll be godsmacked if you don't in fact (sorry i'm thats not what you wanted to hear i'm sure). Matt should have some in as they always seen to have a few RS's in, you may be forced to go down the new casing route. Heres hoping the xenon works.

Although i'm still not 100% sure I couldn't get that one back together, despite what other peeps have said I won't accept it until i've had a bloody good go lol. Especially if its only popped off the balls.

lol I get easily frustrated though and I don't want to end up braking it... yeh I agree with your doubts about ebay, I usually have he same doubts myself but this seller called me up and was very professional about ending the bidding early, He called me up about 4 times during the week to give me updates etc of how things where going with my payment and also the cost of the courier. will call Matt later today and ask what he's got in stock. Are they usually £300 fitted? o do you think he would do £300 delivered?

Thanks, Adam

After many hours of fiddling with it I've managed to get both the plastic balls into there correct joints! The last problem I have -sigh- is that the third one (which isn't shown by a picture because its too hard to photograph) which doesn't have a ball and a joint it just has a square piece of plastic at the top and a thinner one below it which should push into each other and keep the head light from moving about, has broke and left half the bottom piece inside the top piece lol do you think it would hold if I could some how get some super glue inside there? I can see where I have to super glue but its a real struggle to get some onto the piece. I'm determined to get it fixed lol as I paid so much for them and also the other one is in perfect condition. Anyone ever fixed one before or thinks its not a good idea super glueing it back together?

Thanks for the help guys

Adam
