xenon lights not working properly on clio 2004 182

basically when the engine is running the xenon lights arent on have to turn engine off and try again.
also noticed can get xenon lights on without engine running so it must be a control problem rather than an actual lxenon light fault.
isd there a control box somewhere for the xenon lights if so where abouts is it?

Turn the lights on and off in quick sucsession, it should bleep and turn the auto lights back on...............

There isn't a control box, but the relay is on the UCH behind the dash.

So the lights wont switch on with the engine running, but will with the engine off? Am I reading that correctly?

yes thats correct.
it seems to switch on sidelights no matter how light outside it is and will not switch over to dipped beam unless.i switch to dipped beam first then start the engine and sometimes it doesnt stay on dipped beam.
