Yet Another Cam Belt Question/Possible Birthday Present?

My cam belt will need replacing:dapprove:, car's done 38K and can't see evidence of it being done.

Anyone have any ideas on how long past the 36k service they will last? or is it russian roulette? Funds are really really short currently

Also, is anyone on the forum technically gifted, and maybe able to offer me their services?

As I'm twenty today, I'm wanting to take it out for a drive later, and just don't want anything to break until i can get it sorted.

cambet is 72K or 5 years

aux bet is 36k

i was luckly and had mine both changed FREE when i had an oil leak! :approve: not lookin forward to having them changed again! but knowing me i wont keep it that long lol! good luck!

My aux belt was 5k overdue when I bought the car, and it was fine (I then went and got it changed just to make sure)

I wouldn't worry too much, just get it done as soon as you've got the cash to do so

If Renault state 72 or 5 years. They should last that long if not longer. As its not going snap a day over 5 years or a mile over 72k.

Mines 6 years old and on 65 k.

Cam and Aux never been replaced, as far as i know.

Booked in next week though.

i got mine done on 42500miles 5 and a half years old... both belts...

Funds are short but when it snaps ooohh oooh

Is there any way of inspecting the belts and seeing what kind if condition they are in? If so how do you know if they are knackard?

well, the cars done 38K, aux belt should have been changed at 36K

The service lights up on the dash, and the car came with no service history.

As much as I'd like to think the last owner took care of the car, i dont think that putting a body kit on it, listening to really chavvy music (as in some t**t talking without using consenants, and saying brap every other word) and having stella bottle tops down the back seats, is the best way of taking care of it.

So, it's been rebuilt using new parts, and I'm just trying to oust the last bit of neglect that my car's seen
