  clio 1.5dci
Hi,

Went to look at this a few weeks ago he wanted 3k but i wasnt willing to pay it because of the problems but he's lowered the price and am thinking of offering him less again for it and spending a little bit to get it mint for use as a trackday/road car.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1268730.htm

Its got the following problems:

Engine/ gearbox mount's loose or gone (£100 all new mounts?)
bonnet mashed (£200 second hand and sprayed?)
scratch on rear 3/4 (isnt to bad)
Handbrake cable gone on one side (£60 cables)
one of the back wheels has got a dent in it (£100 refurb?)
the grill is damaged (looks like a stone has hit it) (£55 renault?)
drivers side light misty (£??)
front tyres are slick backs are ditch finders (t1rs £200 at tweeks?)
gay exhaust and induction kit (second hand airbox and exhaust??)
says he lost the service history
needs a good clean in and out (my time)

Do you think it would be worth fixing up? (book price is 4.5k)

What would you offer?

Thanks.

Well you're probably looking at chucking at least £500 at it plus a bit more also as i doubt you'll want that crap pipe?

Personally if they're asking £2500 i think thats a fair price but would certainly get that down to nearer the £2k mark

Even if you spend a grand on it after paying £2500 would you still be happy?

scrap all that just seen the No History bit:dapprove:

just from that list, it sounds like a bin. there are bound to be more problems once you've spent £500+ sorting the ones you already know about/imo

In all honesty the engine gearbox and suspension feel fine so i think it has been serviced to some degree, and the engine mount isnt that bad i only knew because one of the mounts on my gf's is on its way out and it makes the gear stick lunge abit under throttle.

As Daniel Said; £1500

They would have to say yes at this price (or at least very close to it) before I'd even consider going back to look at it for a second 'going over'.

probly bull shitting about the cambelt, who would spend £600 + on having the belts done then not having the docs to confirm it.

He's got the reciepts since he had it including one for the cambelt and one for the bill of sale less than 2 years ago (for £5900!!), the story he gave me about the previouse service history was the the garage told him they had it and would send it on to him but they never did.

Personally, I'd avoid any car without a proof of provenance (unless it's DIRT cheap).

After rectification work and peace of mind servicing - you'd have nearly spent the same money as if you'd bought a pampered one. And it'll still not be worth what you've spent due to the lack of service history.

If you absolutely *must* have that particular car: Can't you just call the garage that sold it for confirmation? Possible long-shot that they may still have it?

:S

Steer clear and get a proper nice one, you'll spend a small fortune on it to get it sorted and and then you have the possibility of it having unforseen problems. Just check the wording of the AD it's got Chav written all over it!! Probably thrashed to death as well.

Stay away!!
