I'm hoping you get the gayest thing possible. A pink softtop Mini or something.

I will properly laugh if I do. Whatever I have, I won't have for long as hopefully it'll be repaired.

If they write if off I'll be proper upset and have the hire car for ages probably!

great news, hopefully will work out in your favour :)

I hope so, he's scratched a wheel, so I'm not sure what they'll do about that...

There's a thread of it looking all rather pretty just below this one, take a look. Cheers, you slow b*****d.

Looks like the lights are scuffed too.. especially the wet one.... and the supercharger fell off !!!!

Oh the humanity !!!!!!!!!

Re: Z4 - Perfect No More

Mate, I haven't even seen it yet and you've gone and broke it :rasp:

Glad it's getting sorted. That is some serious rotten luck though within 2 weeks of ownership.

Hope you don't get a pink micra as suggested previously lol!!

Re: Z4 - Perfect No More

Just seen this. Bad luck mate but at least it'd getting sorted.

Re: Z4 - Perfect No More

Is it too early to joke that it was me and I did it deliberately so you'd be delayed and therefore be up in the Lake District when I'm there (31st March onwards)?

Re: Z4 - Perfect No More

Just been and met the assessor... as long as there's nothing insane hidden behind there he won't be writing anything off.

He's declaring it un-roadworthy so that I get my courtesy car ASAP rather than when I drop it off to their workshop, declaring it that also means they'll pick it up from my place rather than me drop it all the way there.

The company seem really professional and the guy was great, knew what he was talking about and said there shouldn't be an issue having it back by the 24th. Family run business started by his dad (no longer with us) and he was in his 50's. Said they frequently work on BM's etc so it'll be no problem.

JD - I didn't know you were up there? FFS! I think that's the day I leave! Just checked, yep!

What are you there for?

Joe - I didn't even know your old man did that, he'd have to be approved by admiral though or I'd get no courtesy car and have to pay the excess!

Oh and I'm going to have the petrol cap resprayed whilst it's in because little miss "I wear rings" :rasp: (hi) seems to have chipped it

Re: Z4 - Perfect No More

Been on the phone all morning, and I mean ALL morning.

Everything is now sorted, assessor coming over today/tomorrow.

I have decided not to pick my own bodyshop, I picked the best out of the bunch that were approved. This is because by picking your own bodyshop you have to pick up the excess until it's sorted and you do not get a courtesy car. The place I've picked is frequently full of range rovers/mercs/BMW's so I imagine the quality of work should be good. Having spoken to them they sound like really nice people too, which matters to me.

My current situation means when it goes to the bodyshop I'll get a courtesy car or similar quality (they even asked if I wanted another softtop) LOL! I've said if there's one available then sure... Anyway, I pay NOTHING at all, all excesses are waived and it's all dealt with by a company on behalf of admiral. Hopefully she'll be proper mint again in no time.

Feel much better now, just need their car so I can get around!

:)

Great news. Told you there was nothing to worry about.

Hopefully it will be good as new in no time at all!

Yeah, his workshop is in godstone. They give a courtesy car anyway regardless of insurance and trust me, the excess would "dissappear"

Re: Z4 - Perfect No More (But it's being fixed so it's all OK)

Was the car shunted at all? as if it moved any distance may be worth getting new tyres all round as well, as if you think about it, the car moved whiled handbrake on and in gear i presume? thus when it moved may cause a flat spot on the tyres ;)

Glad your getting it sorted, i had to wait over a month for mine to come back - that was last July and its still not right, i'm having to complain through the Insurance underwriters for compensation for the poor work and the amount of times it has went into the shop, 3 in total!

Superb mate, see us assessors aren't all bad! If you can, get a copy of the estimate and let me have a gander at it. Make sure everything is above board. :)

Can I recommend West thurrock Coachworks in Harlow. A proper approved centre. Big company. My Dad is mates with the owner and he checks every car that leaves to make sure it is up to his standards.

From your picture I would seriously consider trying to get as many parts resprayed as possible. Blending in and all that jazz

Well, that sounds scary!!!

I won't be claiming for anything silly, but if the wheel that is refurbed doesn't match the others, I'll want the whole set done!

If they're all like you, we'll all be alright!

I'll try to get my hands on a copy of the estimate, they won't take offence will they? lol!

Glad to hear you're getting somewhere with this.

When I had a courtesy car they based it on engine size.

I was offered a Picasso or a 120d M-Sport. Toughie!

Re: Z4 - Perfect No More (But it's being fixed so it's all OK)

They just had to phone the other parties insurance to check they had the correct policy in place to provide me with a "prestige courtesy car" because I asked for one of the same standard... LOL!

Forgot to add, as petty as this is, if you have centre caps make sure these get sorted too, i had to fight with my insurance to get them done, they said they were not part of the wheel lol!! Insurance companies can be really bad for cost cutting :(

I need a new centre caps all around anyway!

Just got my hire car document through, doesn't say what car it is, need to wait for a call for that, it does however show that whatever it is will cost mr ginger £189 a day!

FLOL!

Re: Z4 - Perfect No More (But it's being fixed so it's all OK)

Glad to hear you've had a result from this mess mate!

Just so you are aware though, even if the repairer isn't insurance approved, if they are manufacturer approved (i.e BMW) they can still provide you with a courtesy car and as its not going through your policy and through the third party then your excess is waived anyway.

As an example, if you owned an Aston or Lotus for example, and it got damaged in a non blame to you prang and you bought your car to us (Aston Cat A approved, Lotus approved) to be repaired instead of the third parties Bodgit Brothers insurance recommended repairer, we can get you in a like for like courtesy car and we can guarantee our repairs to Aston standards.

The same goes for BMW. BMW approved repairers aren't necessarily an insurance approved repairer. The reason why? They typically aren't cheap enough to please the insurance companies. We definitely aren't. A typical Aston Martin repairer labour rate is £60 + per hour. Insurance approved repairers rarely charge more than £28 per hour.
Which do you think the insurance company would prefer to use?

Insurers these days can act very underhand when it comes to people not using their approved repairers. They are as nice as pie when you do but take it to a manufacturer approved rather than insurance approved and they get really difficult.
All people need to know is that its THEIR LEGAL RIGHT to go wherever they chose, no matter how difficult the insurers will make things.

This advice I could have done with previously.... Cheers though Ollie.

Admiral made it quite clear that I would have to have a lot more input into the process and it would be a lot slower without doing it their way.. I need the car urgently and I'm actually really confident in the guys who have come to do an estimate.

I guess they've "done me" like that, but I will not be taking any second rate job even if it has to go back 100 times and then onto somewhere else after.

When i crashed the mothers Clio (going back 7-8 years) to replace the bonnet bumper headlight and slam panel took them 5 weeks, worst body shop ever.

My StepDads Lexus went in for a service. It was crashed by their mechanic. Into another mechanic taking someone elses car on a test drive. Totally different garages. Lol.

He got a Jag as a courtesy car. He had it for aaaaaaaaaages as it to so long to sort. The bill for it was over £10k.

I've spoken to the company personally, he's confident he can make a three week turnaround. If not I get to take whatever courtesy car I'm blessed with tomorrow to the lakes :D

I know mate, we've had that one cropping up recently as well. We've also had an even better one.....the insurance company not insuring the customer on our courtesy cars.

Proper lowz.
