why is it law to have washers on your zennons?

HID headlamps produce more light in directions below a horizontal plane passing through the headlamp compared to standard headlamps. When the headlamp is dirty, the dirt will reflect light in directions it was not meant to go, thus scattering the light upwards. Therefore there will be more light above the horizontal plane and thus more glare. To minimise this, headlamp cleaning is required.

Also required is automatic headlamp levelling, to ensure that the headlamps do not dazzle other drivers when the car boot is full of luggage.

Although, imho, the washers are practically useless this time of year. They certainly dont shift the baked on flies on my headlamps...

The headlight washers are operated by using your normal windscreen washers and having your headlights on.

r u sure, as i thought i read in the manual that you operate them by holding the washer jet stalk for longer, say 3-4 seconds rather than the quick pull for the windscreen? it then does both the windscreen and the head lights, I could be wrong, but im sure i read that somewhere.

they only operate when the headlights are on m8

MIght be that you need your headlights on and hold down the washer jet stalk for 3-4 seconds...yeah that sounds like a plan!

no just press stall once, doesnt need to hold down for 3-4 seconds

you will hear the motors go for the lamp wash when you operate the washers with the lamps on and ive noticed you can see the almost wave like effect in the beam cast

The headlamp washers operate 1-2 seconds after the main windscreen jets, when headlamps are in use. I try not to use mine cos it makes a mess of the front of your car !

I just took the fuse out of mine...just gotta hope i dont get pulled over and asked to test them out! I had to get the balls replaced in my 172 as they came flying off when I used them!
