cone filter, strut brace



There are plenty of faster and better engineered cars out there than the Clio TT, granted its fast. But there are faster evo's out there.

Its nice to see that you are talking technical again and not boasting about you engineering skills, your car or guessing peoples technical capacity.

Ans : anyone can go and buy a fast car and track it ( like you & many others ) . To actually build your own and outperform modern day high performance cars takes great skill and engineering knowledge. This is done by testing products such as the mentioned "strut brace" and through a process of elimination finding out which excells others tested on a track or strip. I and many others have found that cheap parts such as the OMP brace doesnt help a bit, you have to spend lots of money to achieve supremity or build the parts to your own spec and satisfaction of which i and many others have done.

Damn right there are better cars out there - thats what has given me the inspiration to build my car - i wont stop till i get in the 10's and hopefully be the 1st FWD car in the UK to achieve this.

Now what do you drive ?????

As stated having an OMP strut brace fitted correctly does perform better than none at all and there have been many to agree on this. The cup racer have OMp strut braces on the front as per the pic in the thread, please dont say they are crap and dont work as its rubbish. FACT.

Regards to building a car from scratch, then alls you have done is but a different manufactures engine in the car (common place). FACT.

Your statement "will whoop any production car on the qtr mile or on track" seems to have change to "will outperform modern high performance car" WELL DONE FOR REALISING IT WAS UTTER RUBBISH.

The Audi is a company car and a very nice one too (50mpg).....for me it all about enjoying yourself and thats down to your driving abilities and not your BHP.

Clio? you know what a chav is? I don't think a chav would have a TT powered Clio, they would be antagonising passers by for bus fare change...

for the record Yoz couldn't keep up round Brunty... I don't know how good a driver Matt is, but I'll guess that Yoz is the more experienced track driver... i've seen this car waste a 450bhp Skyline, so I cant see an Evo being a problem... unless at the lights, but most roads that you are able to do that on will be more than a 1/4 mile, so the Evo's going to get it's arse well and truely handed to it.

as for strut braces dont bother, waste of time on a road car... good if you track it I suppose and like dents in your roof...

Dont get involved in things you know nothing about. Here is an FQ300 with a 331bhp upgrade. Check out his qtr times -

Thats half a second slower than mine with the same hp ( 330 ) and 4WD + ive recorded the same 0-60 time as him as well - so with the new 400 hp upgrade you are gonna need an FQ400 to be competitive - you lot are digging yourself a f**king hole now

kept out of this for as long as i could..
matts clio tt is awsome i had 290bhp rb5 and it wasted it, so then i went and bought a 500ftlb/450bhp skyline and it could keep up no problem! im sorry mate but the evos are fast cars but there no were near the perfomance of matts car round a track or up the strip!

as far as the strut brace is concerned wat mat is trying to say the OMP one flexes which defeats the object of a strut brace im sure u will agree.

Bruntingthorpe consists of merely 2 very long straights and a few corners, ie; its a power circuit so you just need lots of it to be fast round there. A twistier circuit might be a different matter I'd say (ie Burntingthorpe is not the best example to compare).

I meant real world as in NOT 1/4 mile times. But since you said "I don't race on the public roads as its bloody stupid" it can't have been on a country road or dual carriage way either ;)

Ive had enough of this now - im sick of dick heads that have owned 1 fast car in there entire life that theyve bought in stock trim been to Halfords and bought some discs and pads and done a day at oulton park and think they are Tommi f**king Makinen.

If you can do a bit bring, your car to the Pod, York, oulton or donny and put it through its paces and lets see what you can do. Until that very day carry on playing with your play station in one hand and your c**k in the other.

LOL .... EVO are in the 9s on qtr mile and round the track then would get wasted. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE STIG DRIVING IT ROUND THE TRACK WOULDNT BE HALF WAY UP THE LEADER BOARD.

As said previously the bhp is to make up for the lack a driver skill.

For info it was (as it's sold now for 21k) a 2.4 millinton engined Mk2 Rallycar....Which for the record would have on a track / stage annialated the clio. But who cares, i dont......
 
A 350bhp Clio should be pretty fast round the 'Ring as there are places where big power is needed especially the couple of uphill sections where its flat out for ages which is where my 205 struggled as it was so steep.

On the straights maybe but im sure there are a few people on CS that would beat him round....

Remember road tyres +350hp clio.....anyways we are all waiting for him but keeps backing out.

It would probabley be as fast in a straight line and would certainly handle and brake better than your car round the track but again who cares. Oh and looks so much nicer........

I have to say your great, lets Jenson Button and Colin Mcrea etc in some std clios. You can blow them off in your car down the strip then you can say your the best driver in the world....

Send me 2 race of champions VIP tickets.....

360/370 was the 4 and the 6 was about 330...i know which car most people would have..

Very simple mods and if you knew about EVO's then you know thats the norm for the mods but hey you havent had the pleasure.........

I would send you the recepits but DL have all the documentation so to give them a ring.....

It's shame really as i have 3 GT rollerbearing Turbo in my office that are being used for developement....
