Area Rep Applications

Why don't you do it?

You seem to know a few chaps around your way, surely you can get them to come along, and once a few come, others follow.

I don't like people.

Seriously though:

1) Couldn't be arsed filling out the application
2) I end up working a lot of last minute late nights so can't always get to meets
3) I put a meet up on here during the period in which the application was active. I decided that if we got a good turn out it would be worth applying, if we didn't it would show it's a waste of time.

I had to cancel the meet because no one was going to go other than the people I see every week anyway outside of CS.

Fair points dude. Sometimes areas are dead and there's not much to be done. If you have a lot of active forum users in that area it's something you can try to turn around.

I'd love to try and turn it around but I'm not sure I've got the time or desire to do so.

I'd be happy to stand in as a temp rep if we end up without one as it'll still be better than us having no one.

We at this current moment Manchester don't have one.

Any idea when the decisions are announced? I understand it's not a straight forward thing to do.

It has always been available you just had to PM an admin when the time came round
Nope...it was always as a side role alongside membership...so you paid the membership fee and were Area Rep alongside. It changed a couple of years ago to free membership as an Area Rep which is a good way of 'recompensing' the time taken to do Area Rep duties/planning/investigations for new places to go.

I'm a member mate.
The lads are going to be going through their apps and working out what is what. See what comes of it.

If Don is not a rep (thats if you want to anymore) then good luck to the new one (s) an area is built up on friendship and trust, if the key to that is removed then imo it falls flat on its face.

For instance a meet is arranged but needs payment in full of £30 i would happily send it to Don but doubt i would to someone i barely know who has stepped up in place. Regardless of saftey buffers through paypal etc its off putting.

Yep the same thing could be said about new members sending money to an established rep as they dont know them either, but there is how many years background of meets etc behind them for newbies to look back on.

Many if and buts and other little niggles but as i said a few months back why fix it if it aint broke?.

I know a large amount of midlands users have left and gone to other clubs but they still attend a large number of cs.net meets

Why would you post that until you know if Don is or isn't going to carry on being a rep?

We've asked existing reps re-apply in order to check they are still happy and committed to the role, as there were a large number that were no longer arranging meets. There's no 'fixing what ain't broke' we know who our good reps are, and there's no reason they would be removed from the role if they are happy to continue.
