Received my Costco offers magazine at work today and as many people go on about CCTV/Wanting CCTV, thought I'd share this deal.

It's a Swann DVK-441004 4 camera CCTV system.
  • 4 x pro-735 cameras.
  • 700 TV lines.
  • 500gb hard drive.
  • Night vision up to 25m.
It's priced at £215.98.

Just thought I'd let you all know in case it tickles your pickle.

The cameras suck. If anyone is setting up CCTV then simple IP PoE cameras and a PoE Switch is the only way.

What would the equivalent set up cost with that method? (Ball park)
If you are buying on a budget just to get CCTV and dont mind 720P on narrow lenses then around £250-£300

IP PoE cameras on EBay go for around £45 each
a 4Port PoE Switch is around £45 again.
Then its the Cat5 Cable to wire it all up which will cost around £50 for few hundred meters.
The Termination tools will be needed too so add £20, Then £10 for a bag of RJ45 connectors.

You will then need a Decent PC with correct software to view and record. Most cameras have the software included and there are many free ones around
