I have a Clio diesel. I have questions.

Car is an 04 dci 65 dynamique.

1) will coilovers fit from a mk2 ph1?

2) if they won't, will coilovers from a mk2 ph2 1.2 fit?

3) is it worth blanking the EGR on these?

4) will a dogbone mount from a 2.0 1£2/182 fit?

1. Most ph1 1.2s were 52mm bolt spacing your dci will be 58mm but it really depends what engine was in the ph1
2. yes, apparently some ph2's are 52mm but ive yet to come across one! (maby it was 8v ones?)
3. no, just unplug the egr valve and it will remain closed, its worth popping it out and cleaning it incase its jammed open though as obviously unplugging wont do anything!
4.yes common upgrade, i beleive later ones had them as standard anyway, although it still has gearstick rock, the best mod to cure this is the 4th subframe to gearbox mount at the n/s, subframe needs a hole drilled.

yep thats the one, ive got one for mine but yet to fit it, ive got 3 brand new genuine mounts on it and it still rocks!, all dat torque!!!
dci's are like RS btw, once youve had one you never leave!

I had a brand new dci 100 in 2005. I loved that car.

I hate this one though. Really hate it. Only driven it twice and I want to push it into a lake. Hateful little car.

LOL!! 65's are painfully slow! peanuts to run though, i always think my little mapped 80 is nice to drive until i get back in it after driving our 14 plate dci 90

The speed doesn't bother me. I commute in heavy traffic for 20 miles a day and use my other car for everything else.
It's everything else about it that I hate. It's absolutely filthy inside, it needs the mounts doing, it needs 2 tyres, the stereo is s**t, the silver seatbelts are brown and crusty.... I just need to spend a weekend on it to make it my own I think.

I'll probably still hate but not as much hopefully.

Or I'll just punt it on but it's so cheap to run it's hard to decide...

i got a cheap cabasse 182 stereo for mine was a bit of an upgrade for not a lot of cash and obviously the screen and steering controls still works and you can use an aux cable with it

I'm going to do the following...

New mounts
Fit coilovers
Fit 172 ph2 wheels (got them)
Fit spacers (got them)
New stereo (got that)
Sub and components (got them)
Full and proper clean. Seats out the lot (free for me)
Better headlight bulbs
Service it
New number plates.

Once I've done all that, if I still hate it, I'll flog it and buy what I wanted originally, a 1.6hdi 206 gti.

That forth mount is a good addition Dan. Pics in my thread somewhere.
I don't actually see the benefit of unplugging the EGR valve if it's working; it just makes it throw a light and run rougher when cold.
Inner and outer ARB bushes/links are a few quid and make slow traffic a quieter experience.

see you've got the spacers but 172 wheels don't fit without them. Front does but very close to strut without spacers. Back not at all without them.
My tip I'll bring to the table is to clean out the hard pipe which goes from the EGR valve into the head. You will notice the difference.
Run two stroke at 1:200/250 in the fuel to protect the injectors.

Agree, slowest car ever. Boost is like a cats fart.

The 206's are great little cars, loaded with spec! Climate, leather, multi cd, they go well and are still cheap on tax and insurance.

But we'll give the little dci 65 a go first.

I'm not paying £200+ a year to tax a car just for work. Plus the increased insurance.
I don't/won't drive it on evenings or weekends, it's purely to get me to work. Therefore it needs to be as cheap as possible.
But trust me, the vectra is about 1000% nicer to drive!

my 80 has done 20k unplugged with no light, my 65 was much the same my dci 100 done 50k unplugged with no light, noticeable increase in mpg too along with never having to clean out the hard pipe again!

I really liked my old dCi 80. Being a Dynamique I assume it has the auto lights/wipers etc. Things like that just make commuting that bit less painful IMO.

Yeah it's got all that jazz.

What would make it less painful is another 100hp, another 100ft/lb of torque, a gear stick that didn't flop around and if it just had one straight body panel it would be nice too.

I'm sure it will be a nice little car once I've spent some money on it though.

I honestly didn't find my 80 slow. I mean, it won't be out dragging anything that doesn't want you to pass, but accelerating up to speed and getting past vans/other traffic was no problem at all. That said, there is a bit of a straight line difference between an 80 and a 65.

Passenger side, think it's coming from the bottom of the door - but I've replaced the door seal with one from Renparts and there's water in the same place. So I feel like I've ruled out the seal, but I don't know how else water could get in through the door.

No I haven't done that. Live in a flat so only option of hose would be my folks house. Just didn't think of it! Good shout.

Very rare for the doors to leak. In fact I've never heard of it.

My guess is the scuttle drains bunged up with leaves and crap, the scuttle filling up and leaking down the back of the dash.

Cheap commuting is what its all about, I run a Lupo Sdi (non turbo 60bhp) its slow, but easy to park and very very cheap to run, book says 64mpg but I've worked it out at 75mpg, being an old diesel it will also run on cooking oil (77p a litter) sometimes i hate it and will take use my S3 for a few days, then cry at having to put fuel in it and go back in the Lupo.

Yep I'm exactly the same mate.

My mini was costing me over £10 a day. (Largely because I drive it like it's stolen)

This Clio was filled up last Sunday, I've used it all week and when I got in it this morning, it was still registering as a full tank. Computer says 64mpg too.
Add that to £30 a year tax and Bob is my Uncle.

I will always remember mine being nearly free to run. I lost just over a grand in 2 and a half years on depreciation but then I did buy it while it was still in warranty and it had a few marks on it too.

I often think it would be nice to have one again (for some reason I hold Clios quite dearly in my heart!) but my commute is half a mile...

I was hoping for 500+.
The last 2 bars on the fuel gauge have disappeared and the computer reads zero, within the last 30 miles. Is this normal?? I used to drive my 182 for miles and miles on the fuel light let alone 2 bars of the gauge.

There don't appear to be any leaks. Should I be checking elsewhere??

Both my dci's have used the last bit of the tank ridiculously quickly.

Also have you filled it back up? I found on my last dci I only got about 500ish miles out the tank but when I filled it up there was about 2 gallons still left in it! They were completely unusable though, I tried once and ran out of fuel lol.

Yeah that's my job tonight. I'll fill it up and see what's going on.
A bit disappointed with the total mileage though. 400 miles on a full tank is do-able in a 172 if you drive like a nun.

You'll hopefully find its not used anywhere near the full tank. I've no idea why my old dci done it. If it has genuinely used the full tank in just under 500 miles though something definitely sounds amiss

@Daniel earlier in this thread you mentioned a 206hdi gti. I looked them up and they look awesome! What's the GTi bit about though? Is it just a body kit I presume?
