Hugely Homo Pretty red Mazda

  Listerine & Poledo
Have you looked into the "recaro" aero bits for the ND?
I think MX5 parts are doing them, but there's Mazda-option skirts and lips now avialable.

Like it, pwitty

Bloody hell! Didn't expect such a warm response. Thanks for all the positive words!

Regarding the mazdaspeed kit, it's just so fugly and naff :(

So today was an update Ive been looking forward to. Having the car aligned at Rodders to make the most of the suspension.

Il throw a few random pictures in to break up the text, but being honest they're in no particular order.

I got to Rodders at 10.30 ish after some pretty terrible traffic, how is it possible for so much congestion to all of a sudden clear! anybody who's driven from Manchester to Sheffield using the woodhead pass will know how I feel!

Anyway.

Putting the car on the ramp at Rodders he already had a sly smile on his face, I had already spoke to him the day before so I knew he was going to try and sell me some wheels. Actually all being well and me liking them... I'd have bought them. I could feel my wallet quaking as I stepped out. The tone from there slipped into ridicule! Paul pretty much tore me a new southern hemisphere for my ride height, kids will be kids hey!

Just to set the scene, the ridicule didn't diminish at any stage. First the height, then the coilover covers I have but the question that would further gravitate today was "are you having it corner weighted too?" me being me and young and a know it all Replied "no, its a road car, be reyt" I thought that was the end of that.....

During the barrage of bullying Paul Got me to adjust all 4 corners and raise them up but make sure they were the same height a height we both agreed was probably slightly less then optimal but the best middle ground between Arianna Grande and Ari Vatanen. From there Really I just spent half an hour asking stupid questions about ND development and eyeballing the Rota grids Paul had "accidentally" left on display. It was in this half hour window I decided as much as I liked them... the colour scheme "Bronze with polished lip" was just a bit too Stanceworks for me.

By the stage i'd make that crucial decision Paul was "done". Or .. was he

I backed the car out and then under his instruction reversed it back in and onto his 2 poster ramp.

At this stage he brought up an earlier question.. the one where he asked "are you having it corner weighted" remember me dismissing it?

now many of us have been in the same position where we have fitted coilovers and then had the car "aligned" and feel the benefit. But Paul touched on the real reason why we don't corner weight.... lets be honest its because circa £200 to have a car corner weighted, is money spent on an exhaust, something we can see, something we can touch and something we can hear, alignment is a necessary evil and we feel like heroes afterwards but nearly £200 for the same thing... Nah not for me boss!!

Now at this point I was dumbfounded by logic and maths as Paul started to explain the benefits of corner weighting for even a road car. Explaining how adding a passenger or me putting on weight will not throw the corner weighting out.

Once you see the logic and please anybody who is remotely inquisitive about this please let Paul explain this to you, if you enjoy driving and have invested hundreds of pounds on suspension £200 is not a big deal to make it work properly! Pauls description was so good that he managed to twist my arm, the value I see in corner weighting now is monumental! I dare say that if you book in with Paul for potential corner weighting on the basis he explains it well Im sure nobody will drive away, I dare even say Paul would reimburse travel costs if you really don't see that value ( I haven't checked that but im sure he wont mind)

Anyway after a bit of fiddling about Paul managed to get the weights within a kilo or two, this with just under half a tank. Spot on.

Just incase anyone wants to know, baring In mind I had loads of crap in my boot including a torque wrench and some other tools my car weighs in at 1048KG

Once Paul had finished I set about going home. Now I've been Pauls a few times but the route I took today was brilliant!!

I stopped for a few pictures as after being Iceland for a few days and using the camera I'v been somewhat hooked on using it again. I still can't really be arsed with Photoshop so just chucked some crap at the remaining pictures.

If you've read All this A) well done and
cool.png
go get your car corner weighted at Paul roddisons. I have no affiliation with the man, he still rapes and pillages me for money whenever I see him but this is easily the best money spent. The car is night and day different so please go do it. you WILL see the benefit even if you don't think it at first!

Also the keen eyed may notice the absence of a front lip? well this is because I don't get much spare time and had a little bit before Iceland to drill out the rivets and remove the lip before My Garage vary lip arrives on Monday

After seeing this one I'm sold. I need one.

Would be prefect for the Mrs.

Panning is so hard! Huge respect for proper 'togs.

Also, you missed the part where it still drove like s**t until I suggested we check the tyre pressures.. 36psi on one corner, yeah cool!

Thanks, that'd be me! Certainly nothing special, but I enjoy getting the camera out every now and again. All my gear is due updating now anyway, had it for years!
Well to someone like me its some of the best photography I've seen tbh. Could probably make a career from it:wink:

Thanks mate!
You should check out the photography thread on here, plenty of properly talented people about.
Also, if you're on Instagram/Facebook, check out Riad Ariane - he was a regular on here and made a career out of it. Takes pictures of supercars for living!

Despite wanting to set my car on fire at the moment (see o2 sensor thread) My friend managed to snap some pictures of my cars current state

Im a bit fed up with this car atm, half tempted to set it on fire... however joey took some recent pictures so may as well update this.

Proper nice Seb. How does it drive compared to the NC you had?

It's s**t [emoji23]
From my brief drive, you can tell it's a lighter/smaller car - feels very pointy where the NC is quite a stable thing. The engine is quite different too; loads of mid-range punch, but not entirely worth revving out, it's almost turbo-charged in its power delivery - whereas the NC's engine is a little gutless low down, but really enjoys being taken right up to the limiter. Also, while the ND isn't a bad sounding car, I think we both agreed the NC sounds better with the right exhaust.
I also think the ND is a much nicer thing as an object too. It feels expensive, and the interior is great, if a little small (IMO), where the NC is kind of plasticky, the ND is covered in leather and body coloured panels, and the infotainment screen is great too. It'd be a great car to live with day to day. Only thing that really lets it down are the seats - but that goes for every MX5 ever made! (except mine [emoji41])

Ultra homo car, how many times have you pumped your hairdresser boyfriend parked up in a dark alley way in it? :)

I'd well have one though, absolutely beautiful looking motor! That red with those alloys is sexual.

Joes Review Is pretty much bang on, the engine feels a bit too smooth for a tepid car. The benefit is it's just so much more flexible then other MX5s

Let me have a go before you torch it? 🙈😂

You can Help me torch it if you want!

Love it! It properly sits bang on.

Is it on spacers too or is that standard hellaflush poke?

You two certainly don't f**k around with your race cars!

No spacers here anymore just beefcake wheels. Once this thing is fixed its going on a trackday, its about time.

What's wrong with the car, I take it warranty won't cover the issues?

Looks awesome btw!

It's not reading AFR on the front lambda sensor, some signs point to ECU but obviously its been tampered with. Not totally sure whether i'l get it through with Mazda but I don't have the motivation to even try at the moment.
