Cone filter or standard airbox?

  2003 Clio 172
Previous owner had fitted a cone filter/induction kit of unknown brand. He did give me the standard airbox and filter and from what I've read I'd probably be better off going back to standard. The induction kit does sound very nice though Lol. Thoughts?

Most people just make one of these. (Apart from me, I have an Espace V6 airbox because I like the sound)

1:25 to hear the Fatty (K-Tec style) IK.

I’ve had both and personally prefer the fatty style open cone setup (pipercross setup as above). It probably makes zero difference to performance but it sounds nice so that’s good enough for me!

My Ramair ‘fatty’ setup. Very happy with it! Quiet too unless you use full throttle

Looks nice. How much does a setup like that cost? I was looking at the Ktech ones but they cost a pretty packet.

Cheers mate. Mine was £25 for the air filter and £15 for the aluminium pipe (both items were brand new and were delivered prices from eBay).

I can’t say I noticed a performance increase as I think the factory airbox is fine as it is for performance . There was a big difference in noise though as it sounds far throatier with the Ramair come filter especially at low revs with lots of throttle :)
