Got the cup spoiler and wheel centre caps back from paint shop tonight and also dropped off front and rear bumpers and alloy bonnet for paint.

Those caps and wheels are going to look awesome. I stand by this comment!

Did you need the vents for yours? Yours damaged or something?

yes mate mine are both cracked and 'floppy' and I didn't want to go the eBay pattern part route so spent the last year trying to source some mint originals

found then, now I have the unenviable task of extracting and then fitting them to my car..........oh god!

Ugh have fun getting those vents out. I couldnt get one out at the wreckers without breaking them. I went for a cheap ebay one which looks decent but is kind of stuck in there and doesnt move up and down freely. If you didnt know one was original and the other was from ebay you couldnt tell really. Unless you tried moving them ofc.

exactly, the thought of fitting the ebay ones and them just not working just makes me cringe, lol!
plan is to hack the dash apart to free them rather than pulling them put, the smash my old ones out and clip these in, hopefully without breaking them

its a job I will work upto as if it goes wrong I may be a tad vexed!

Man points for taking this job on.............. but will be so worth it for the 'genuine' part if you can do it :up:

Can't wait to see these on the car, is that my old alloy bonnet of the Ph1 I broke? Who's doing the paint for you?

More panels back from the painters, Front and rear bumpers and the alloy bonnet.

As the car is backed up on the drive currently I have fitted the bonnet and spoiler but will leave the bumpers until I can get at it properly!

either way, she's coming on nicely! Wheels will also be fitted once I get the track car out the way!

Pics of the spoiler fitted, with brand new hi vis brake light, which transpires may be last one in the world..... Maybe..... Lol

Also got the vents out the dash I bought, and been stock piling more bits to fit. So new gen ren rear discs/bearings, gen ren numberplate light and rear wiper surround trim, gen ren windscreen seal kit and gen vw (lol) fabia splitter for the painted bumpers.

Pics of shed spec car with bits all in it, plus I also managed to crack the rear cluster by rolling car back into engine that's kicking about for one of the mk1's, doh! Luckily Dan over in Duffield was going back to phase 2 clusters on his turbo 182 so I've relieved him of his phase 1 ones to replace!

Cheers

Ben

Well, dragged her out finally as the track car was back in one piece and could be shifted off the drive it the way.

Refurbished wheels fitted and brakes checked over. So in theory ready for an mot. Only slight issue is seems to be bit of an oil leak coming from the engine somewhere, so I need to rip the undertray off and investigate.

I've got a minor service kit coming with all filters, oil and plugs so when I do that I'll check it out and comp test it too. Hopefully nothing major.

Anyway as she stands currently, mods are :

- Cup spoiler
- Eibach sportline springs
- 20mm front spacers
- 16mm rear spacers
- Ktec resonated stealth
- Smoked side repeaters
- Colour coded rubbing strips
- JVC chameleon head unit

Think that's it!

I've not washed the car at all for months so needs that sorting too and some trim/tyre dressing applying but I've still got the new bumpers to fit and a load of other little shiny new bits so tbh I'll wait until that's done, it's serviced and mot'd. Then it'll get a proper wash, a run out and some decent winter time pics hopefully.

Then it's front end and side skirts off for cleaning, treating, painting etc.

Oh and still need to get the wheel to snappy for a retrim but got Christmas to pay for first so that can wait!

Cheers

Ben

For the record the wheels look really dull for some reason in the pics, think due to overcast day, they're wonderful in person!

I'm considering full original, so no spacers, original springs, pattern mild steel exhaust, remove colour coded strips and return orange to side repeaters and front indicators. And back to original spoiler..... But not yet!

No rubbing issues as yet, but literally just driven it off drive and that's it so no idea, lol

All original apart from the spoiler would be nice also I think. These are very nice in stock OE form.

How many mm spacing is that?

Lol, just realised after reading the thread back, fitted 10mm hub spacers to the car last year and totally forgot..... so that's 26mm rear spacing, thought it looked a bit wide, flol!!

Fair bit more work done on the car recently, think I'll split it up a post per change as there's loads of pics to add as well.

Not going to necessarily be in chronological order I'm afraid but all occurred over past few weeks!

So first one in this thread is I had noticed some play in the steering, I replaced the offside TRE last year as it was shot, but the feeling of slight play was still there, so i finally fitted the near side one as well.

All to no avail however, as on the MOT the tester advised slight play on inner rods, and i could still feel play after this job was completed.....so the inners will be done soon as well.

off with the old
